How I Achieved Parisian Brown Hair

My Flair for Parisian Hair
I’ve always been so intrigued by the French girl hair. That elusive brown. The way they they seem to effortlessly pull their hair up into a messy topknot bun that looks tres chic. I tried that messy bun once and ended up looking like I was gonna attack two weeks worth of laundry and do some washing instead of looking like “I’m gonna grab some croissants and coffee with friends but am running late so let me bun my hair up real quick here“. So I decided – if I can’t achieve their chic messy hair look, maybe I’ll just try to achieve their classic French brown hair. How perfect that L’Oreal has released their new range of color aptly named French Browns that are now available in all major salons. Let me share with you how my experience went.
Before. This is my hair before the transformation. Adjusted it because the yellowish lights changed how it look on photos but this is close to my real hair color. I preferred cool-toned ashy hair before just because I find it doesn’t turn brassy easily as warm-toned browns.

Find Your Shade of French Brown

I find the new range perfect for those trying out hair color for the first time. Most of the shades are dark to medium chocolate brown that will transition your jet black hair to the warm brown territory seamlessly. I wanted to achieve a lighter shade of brown so they used one of their lightest shades on me and mixed it with their magic potion~ (read: their developers, mixtures and all that pro hairstylist tools) to achieve the perfect shade of French Brown for me. I really recommend going to hair salons for coloring – as I’ve seen too many failed DIY boxed hair color attempts by friends and online reviews – that are extremely damaging to the hair and sometimes are even hard to correct. So yes, go to a salon friends – the stress of a botched job isn’t worth it!

Can you see the warmth of the brown? Eeek, excited at this point to see the result. Had this on for around 30-45 minutes.

French Hair, Don’t Care
I’m not used to seeing warmth in my hair as I usually get cool-toned ash browns but wow, I love how the French Brown shade really made me look less pale and zombie-ish. The warmth complements my warm skintone as well which I believe made the huge difference to how I look. Even my lipsticks look better! Did you check out the video above to see a quick video peek at how the whole process went? It took almost 2 hours since I got to salon – don’t be fooled by the video, LOL! As for my new ‘do, I have already adjusted to it and I actually like how my skintone pops more against my warm hair now. Didn’t realize how ashy hair made my skin look so ashy as well! Let me know what you think of my new color, friends. Would love to hear your thoughts! Are you also keen to trying out this French Brown shade?
