My Love for Guerlain

…luxury beauty done beautifully
If you asked me to name a brand I could singly use for the rest of my life, Guerlain would be one of those on the top three choices, for sure.  I haven’t revisited their newest releases for quite some time now because they are quite $$$. Also, I really pick out the things I get which I know I’ll use, enjoy and never get tired of. True enough, no matter how many products I try on a daily basis, I still find myself pulling out my old Guerlain favorites regularly if I don’t need to try anything new for the day. That’s how classic and reliable they are.
So I definitely call it a “blessing in the skies” for being picked to be part of Guerlain Philippines’ Beauty Council. Not only do I get reacquainted with the brand, I get to try out their newest releases ahead in the coming seasons. I AM SO EXCITED. As part of the council, we were given Guerlain credits to use during the welcome tea event just last week. Admittedly, I acquired more than I should’ve but I’ve no regrets because these are worth every hard-earned centavo. Let me run you through what I personally picked out and took home that day.
Guerlain Parure Gold Powder Foundation
So expensive but so worth feeling on your face. I don’t even want to disclose how much this costs because it’ll be ridiculous to some (#dontjudgeme) but let’s just say that it is probably the smoothest, silkiest, finest powder my fingers were so humbly honored to swipe. I even felt a moment of hesitation as they stopped in their tracks and mumbled “we’re not worthy” upon the SA’s opening of such a “high-tech contraption”.
As the glossy curved compact opens up, the powder case slides up to reveal the cushion below. I expected more from the cushion, given the price, but then I don’t really use it as much anyway, only for touch-ups if I do decide to bring this compact along for the day. Honestly, I wouldn’t want to scratch it so I refuse to stash it in my everyday bag. I even have a space for it specifically on my vanity, that’s how almost “sacred” this thing is to me.
So anyhow, on the quality. This Parure Gold powder is so so finely-milled that it leaves no dusty mess on your compact. NONE. It’s more a creamy, buttery kind of satiny powder that grazes your face leaving no trace of particles that will make you feel confident that you are far, far away from “cake face”. Coverage is light-medium and I find that its “medium coverage” is actually my way of doing full-ish makeup. It also provides adequate coverage for light scars and blemishes that I find I can skip concealer on blemishes when wearing this.
The finish is a soft-focused, satin look that makes you look so flawless without looking “caked up”. I really love it. The first time I tried this on during the event, a middle-aged woman comes up to me and says “You look very attractive. And I’m not even gay!“. SO YES you bet I was getting this palette no questions asked! However, heads up, this is scented and I mean highly perfumed so it’s either you will love it or hate it. I personally like the scent of this particular powder so I’m not at all bothered by it.
Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer
This is one of Guerlain’s cult products that just got me so curious I had to pick it up already. I’m not a bronzer person at all so I never gave in to the hype of this. But I realized if I’ll add a bronzer to my collection, might as well make it one of the best ones in the market, right? So I grabbed one of these newly-reformulated Guerlain Terracottas.
I swatched it in comparison to the old ones and I have to say these are much, much smoother and silkier than the old ones. Not as fine as the powder foundation, though – but definitely not hard or dry like other bronzers. The color I chose is 03 Natural which leaves me with a sun-kissed color if I apply it lightly. This is pigmented as hale, you guys so definitely use a light, fluffy brush and don’t press too hard. I love that it doesnt’ register orange-y which most bronzers tend to do.
This is also a highly scented product but smells differently from the Parure powder. The Terracotta bronzers are laced with notes of tiare flower, freesia, orange flower extracts, jasmine, rose, iris, tonka bean, and vanilla.

Guerlain Les Tendres Eyeshadow
I saw the release of this collection online because if there’s one item I look out for during new collection season, it’s eyeshadow palettes. I was so taken aback by the shades so I passed. Seeing it again in person though, I was in love. I don’t know if it was because of the dramatic opening of the eyeshadow palette case by the SA or the longing to add another quad to my Guerlain collection but it just felt… right. LOL. Welcome back, my passion for makeup.
Anywho, the palette consists of a gorgeous, eye brightening soft rose beige. Not so unique, fine. But then we have the star of the palette – a one-swipe wonder shimmery aqua green that really adds a pop to that eye brightening effect the rose beige will give off. The third is one of my favorite no-fail shades – a satin finish taupe nude which I find to be a perfect outer-thirds (of the eye) contour shade. Lastly, a matte reddish plum to add further intensity to the palette (reminds me of a shade in Turandot palette).
The quality is just BOMB. Like, no other words for it you guys. Super smooth and buttery, soft and easily blendable, long-lasting on the lids sans primer and extremely pigmented in one swipe. No fallout at all. That’s how much I love these shadows. They are at par with Tom Ford shadows, for me – actually even better than some Tom Ford quads I have. Definitely ecstatic to add this to my collection!

Wow! You’re so lucky Ms. Shari! :* I know Guerlain is also pricey, but base on your review, it’s one of a great brand! That bronzer really defines your cheek bones, as I can see. Plus the eyeshadow was really a bomb to your eyes! I love the foundation’s pact too! So elegant and classy. Just like you! Hope you’ll add the prices next time though. Thanks for this wonderful review! 🙂

There you go, Another great and very informative review as always. The first time I heard or saw this “Guerlain” brand was when I watched a documentary about how they make a perfume, said it was one of the great brands when it comes to perfume, but quite expensive din talaga, but I think really worth it. Then later on I heard about their makeup lines, just curious about it but I never imagine myself buying this, in my life as in. Glad that kahit sa review na lang I get to imagine your experience..BTW I really love the look, looks natural kahit pang everyday makeup. Say “HI” to the photobomber.

Such a stunning brand, they have lovely high quality bronzers but they run a little too orange on my skin. Obsessed with their packaging, thanks for sharing, so exciting to be part of their Beauty Council, well done you! Xx

Long time no see from me, but lovely review as always, Shari! That powder sounds amazing, I’m definitely going to have to check that out since I’m in the market for a new one. Congratulations on being a part of their beauty council! I can’t wait to see more of your posts about their products in the future!

you know what, I think their eyeshadows are definitely better than TF, the only selling point in TF quads are the glitters, other than that they’re just really good eyeshadows, not my favorites though!
