Maybelline BB Cushion
The Drugstore BB Cushion To Try
Another Western take on a popular Asian trend – the BB Cushion by none other than makeup giant, Maybelline. I think this is the first drugstore cushion I’ve come across and have tried so I was ecstatic to see how it fares against those I’ve already used (mostly high-end). This BB Cushion is composed of 60% skin lotion so it mostly feels like a skincare product patted on but with coverage. It comes in two shades – natural and fresh.
The texture and consistency of the BB Cushion is a creamy liquid that blends onto the skin easily as you pat it on. The coverage is light to medium, it can not hide your dark circles or acne scars so you’d really need a separate concealer for that. The finish is natural a.k.a slightly dewy. I have normal-combination skin so I find the finish natural looking, but if you have oily skin, you may find it overwhelmingly dewy. I suggest use a powder to set afterwards. What I find quite nice about it despite the light-medium coverage is the smoothening and slight blurring that makes it register almost flawlessly on camera – take note, I use an HD SLR for photos. Lasting power on my face is a good 5 hours before I notice any ‘hulas‘.
If you have oily skin, you may find this BB’s oil control properties quite on the poor side. I would definitely recommend this for those with normal-dry skin who are looking for an “everyday” natural-looking liquid foundation they can take around with them for touch-ups throughout the day. For a drugstore BB cushion, I find it quite average at Php750 but feel like it would have been more apt to be priced at Php500 just so it’s easier and accessible for more women to try the cushion craze.
What do you think of BB cushions as a whole? Are you into the trend or do you like to stick to bottled liquid foundations and just find BB cushions a hype?
