Intensive Skin Serum

Foundation by bobbi brown
If you’ve followed me for some time, you’d know that one Bobbi Brown serum – the Extra Bright Advanced Serum –  saved my acne mark-ridden face like in ways I could have only imagined.  So yes, you could also imagine how hysterically eager I was to try this Serum Foundation. Not because I would treat it as skincare per se – but more for the thought that my skin is bathing in skincare ingredients while I’m wearing foundation. The power-packed formula includes a generous sunscreen serving of SPF40 PA+++ and infused with Cordyceps, Bamboo Grass and Watermelon, Apple Lychee extracts. There’s also a serving of algae from Laminaria saccharina extract and Artemia extracts.

It comes in dropper form – which I’ve a love-hate relationship with. Most times, I find it easy to use. Other times, I dispense too much than what I’d normally use. A few other times, I can’t dispense enough so I just swipe from the outer part of the dropper. The consistency is denser than I imagined it would be – it’s not as runny as I expected (thinking it’s a serum). Compared to the Bobbi Skin Foundation, the Intensive Skin Serum Foundation feels thicker and heavier although the finish is just as lightweight. I can also blend this with my fingers even if it isn’t quite as runny and easily blendable like the Skin Foundation.
The finish is satin, for me. I see other reviews saying this is natural and dewy and glowy, but compared to the Skin Foundation, this is definitely a bit more “demi-matte” with the perfect amount of radiance peeking out. I definitely look like I have foundation on when I wear this. Coverage is medium as it’s able to cover up my redness and acne marks with just one full layer but not full coverage, although I find it buildable.
Longevity is a good 5 hours (sans setting with a powder) before I feel any greasiness – lasts better than the Skin Foundation, I observed. For longer lasting results, definitely use a primer and set with powder. Also, beware of the lavender scent as it does feel quite strong in the beginning but dissipates after a few good minutes.
At the moment, I have normal-dry combination skin and it worked really well for me. On my dry patches though, I feel like it has a tendency to be a bit flaky when I put a little too much. For those with oily-combination skin, I’m not sure if you’d like the added radiance or glow but it definitely is a bit more subtle than the other “glowy” foundations I’ve tried.

I usually pair this with the Intensive Skin Serum Corrector and Concealer which perfectly matches the foundation. On the photo though, I don’t have any concealer or corrector on so you can see the coverage of just the foundation. It’s not at all cakey or heavy, but you do see that I have foundation on. I’ve grown to love this foundation after having it for almost two months now – because at the start, I still was very much used to the Skin Foundation which compared to this was much easier to work with (I think I was biased since it has been my favorite for the longest). After using this for almost a month, I’ve grown to like it as well. It registers very well on camera and gives a more flawless, put-together look.
How about you guys? Have you tried this foundation? Let me know your experiences!

I thought it would be more of a dewy finish since its a serum foundation but it looks good but bobbi brown products are expensive.

Bobbi Brown is one of the best and expensive cosmetic products. My boss is a fanatic of Bobbi Brown.

Interesting how it’s more of a satin vs. glowy foundation considering it’s in the serum category! It looks like it gives good coverage, but I don’t like how you can tell it’s foundation.

I like it! It looks like it’s your second skin! 🙂 It doesn’t look cakey at all. Plus it has skincare benefits!
