Moist Matte Lipstick Range
I don’t think I’ve encountered legit matte drugstore lipsticks before (matte liquid lipsticks aside). Most of the ones that claim to be matte still have a bit of sheen to them – I wouldn’t even call them satin, more like sheeny mattes. So upon receiving these 3 shades of L’oreal Moist Matte lipsticks from their Electric collection – I wasn’t expecting ‘matte’ matte. The name itself foreshadows the moistness to come. However, I couldn’t be more wrong – they’re the powdery dry kind of mattes that hug your lips and never want to let go. Swatched on the arm, they look like they have a bit of sheen but once swiped on the lips, out comes the drag that would indicate they’re definitely more matte than moist. I was quite enamored by the initial shades I received that I even went out to get two more (in more wearable, non-electric shades) on my own.
As I mentioned, since the lipsticks are the dry, hugging mattes, they do feel drying as the day progresses. Although, for some immaculate reason, my lips don’t crack or peel from these (maybe I’ve worked up my immunity for mattes, yas!!). BUT if you have dry patches in the first place, these can accentuate those dry patches so prep is very much needed. Wear time is quite average for a matte – it can last you the whole day provided you eat only air. A full meal would require a touch-up after but the good thing is it fades very evenly without the dreaded lipstick ring.
As for application, these are quite pigmented in one swipe and do feel light (as if you’re not wearing anything on. almost comparable to Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet. almost). However, Crayon Sunset and Orange Power apply quite unevenly compared to the others, Spring Rosette, Lincoln Rose and the power shade Glamour Fuschia. I would explain each shade in detail, but since I’m not in my usual blabbing mood, I’ll leave you with FOTD shots instead.
If you’re looking for drugstore powdery matte lipsticks, the L’Oreal Moist Matte Range is definitely one you should look into. I feel that they’re quite underrated and don’t get enough spotlight. Maybe because of their price point here in the Philippines – they used to cost PHP625 which is not quite ‘drugstore’ (I mean, add PHP385 more and you get a MAC lipstick). But I think they’ve marked this down to PHP400 which is much more enticing and convincing – though I’m not sure if they retained this sale price. Will edit this post once I confirm!
Which shade among the five caught your eye? Let me know!

Lovin’ the new logo, Shari. It’s a cutie!

Almost comparable to Rouge Allure Velvet is a huge deal. Now I want to try one out. Spring Rosette and Glamour Fuchsia, imho, looks most swoon-worthy on you. I initially had the hots for Touch of Amaranth from my swatching trips, but Glamour Fuchsia just looks so distinct.

I had eyed these when I was in Taiwan last summer but never got around to buying them because I was trying to be reasonable….I regret that decision now as Lincoln Rose and Spring Rosette look gorgeous on you! xxxx

Yes they’re still priced 400! I was at SM megamall today. I am so tempted to get Lincoln Rose and Pure Ruby (that looks so so much like MAC Ruby woo but I don’t really need more red in my stash. ._.) and omg Glamour Fuchsia looks like Heroine. Maygad! I want!

I have spotted these so many times but matte aren’t my favorite formula! They look lovely on you Shari especially Lincoln Rose!

Spring Rosette looks like a good everyday shade, and Glamour Fuschia is such a “wow” shade! 🙂

Spring Rosette would be my pick, but I don’t often wear mattes x

I’m looking for matte lipsticks that will stay longer. I tried WnW but just by having few sips of water, inner part of lips completely fades. It’s ok if it leaves stains but WnW just ~ ~ ~ -_- Also, it smudges and moves around. Even if I don’t eat I get lipstick on my nose or chin. Buhuu. I guess I should try this before I resort to liquid lipsticks. Thanks for this post!

L’Oreal lipsticks and I don’t get along very well… but I love Spring Rosette on you 🙂 So natural and sweet

Love Lincoln Rose on you! Glamour Fuschia’s the winner though. 🙂

  11. June 16, 2015 / 1:18 pm

I have one of these in a warm pink colour and I love it! The formula is really nice, I like how they don’t really dry out my lips too badly. The nudey shades look gorgeous, as well as the fuchsia!

“it can last you the whole day provided you eat only air”…I LOL’d IRL.
I like the idea of a matte lipstick, but I don’t like the dryness of a matte lipstick. The struggle is real. Anyways, I think you look good in all the shades minus the fuschia one. NOT A FUCHSIA FAN.

Spring Rosette and Lincoln Rose look amazingggg. Almost makes me want to buy a tube lipstick even after I’ve decided to stick to liquids!

I have Spring Rosette, and I really like how lightweight it is, never mind having to reapply more times than usual! Glamour Fuschia looks really gorgeous, I might just get that one of these days ^^
