The Olay Swap
Robinson’s Place Manila
What better way to try a new product than good ol’ barter, right? Last Saturday (March 28), I was invited to witness the Olay Body Wash swap where anyone interested to try out the new Moisture Outlast collection can bring in their old soaps and trade it for a new bottle of the Olay body wash for free. My sister, Raiza, went to the event in my place (as I was out of town unfortunately) and joined in on the swapping fun. Looking through the photos, I was impressed that there was even an Olay Swap Machine (that looked like an on-steroids version of regular vending machines) to aid the process making it a fun experience altogether. The event was graced by Olay ambassador, actress Bea Alonzo, who my sister describes as “ethereal” and even more beautiful in person. I would’ve been starstruck if I were there seeing as I’ve watched her movie, “One More Chance”, countless times. Snaps to Bea as she personally helped out and explained to the guests how to use the Olay Swap Machine.
NEW Olay Body Wash MOISTURE OUTLAST COLLECTION
I immediately used the new Olay Body wash bottles my sister got for me during the swapping event. First, they smell really good – and not in a cloying, headache-inducing way. The Deep Moisture variant (pink) is infused with honey and comes in quite a thick, lotion-y cream that isn’t runny – compared to the Cooling version which is infused with strawberry and mint and comes in a thinner gel-like and runny texture.
They both lather on nicely – I like to keep them on my skin for at least 3 minutes before rinsing. Sometimes, when I have the luxury of time to enjoy my showers (mostly at night), I do two rounds of washing just because. Ha ha! What I like most about these is that they don’t leave a thin oil-like film on top of the skin after rinsing. They do wash off entirely, even feel a bit ‘too clean’ right after but within a few minutes of letting the skin dry, that’s when the moisture is felt — skin is left smooth and soft without feeling sticky or oily.
Now for the 24-hour moisturizing feature, I’ve to say that while most of the skin on my body felt hydrated throughout the day, the driest parts (like my hands and feet) still need extra help. I get flaky, eczema-level dryness on these parts during extreme heat/cold so it’s really beyond body washes and lotions, to be honest. So for those who have problematic dry skin, you need extra moisturization. Suffice it to say though that while I’ve extreme dryness on certain parts, they still felt moisturized throughout – just needed a touch-up by the end of the day. For those with normal skin who hate putting on lotion during the day, this will be your new BFFs.
