Come Closer EVEN MORE
Balesin Island Club |
Day 2 of the Nivea Come Closer event was an extremely packed day! Breakfast was at 6AM followed by a slew of fun activities like the most awaited Amazing Race where we’d be running around the whole island (in jeepneys and vans, thank God! Else we’d be losing teammates one by one as we go from one village to the other. FYI: a jeepney ride from one village to the other takes around 10-15 minutes!) doing challenges and activities to complete 8 puzzle pieces. Followed by an interesting PR session about sun damage, some free time to explore the island (which resulted in rest time for my sister and I, boring I know but we were preparing for the night ahead) and finally the Nivea Closing Party.
The Nivea Amazing Race
Our team was composed of bloggers Camille Co, Julia Arenas, Kiana Valenciano; national triathlete and our team captain Nikko Huelgas; and print media writers Janthina Fong, Kenneth del Rosario.
I think our strategy was ‘just run and do whatever the first ones ahead of us were doing’. We had to do a 16-legged-race, put-on-lip-balm-and-kiss-the-next-one-in-line and pass-the-hula-hoop-with-your-body obstacles. There was also kayaking, archery (which we failed to accomplish so we had to stay at the station for 5 mins), gartered-together-while-running-around-looking-for-soaps and balance-the-ball-in-between-your-heads-as-you-pick-up-more-members-per-turn. We came in 6th place (8 teams overall) which ‘wasn’t bad ‘cos at least we weren’t the last ones’, or at least that’s how we consoled our competitive selves. Ha!

I was with this great company of beauty bloggers during the whole trip! L-R: Liz, Lou, Shen, Say, Kim, KiraKrissy
Our loot included some of these Nivea Men products and I’m so glad to share that my one-soap-for-everything husband has finally agreed to try the Nivea Men facial care line!!

How the Sun Sees You
The afternoon session was quite an interesting one – we were given a chance to see ourselves under a UV camera – something I’ve always wanted to try after watching this video (which motivated me more than ever to slap on that sunscreen every damn day). My general observation – we all had minimal sun damage as compared to the ones in the video I linked above which featured mostly Caucasians. Being Filipinos and having more melanin in our skin somehow makes us more resilient to sun damage although it only helps slow down the damage, not prevent it entirely. Sunscreen is still heavily needed to completely block out the harmful rays. If there’s one thing I learned from this 2-day trip, it’s never skip sunscreen.

Greek food for our last dinner on the island! This was just TOO good not to take a photo of.
The Nivea Partaaay
Aside from the sinfully delicious smorgasbord of Greek food, we were treated to a night of DJ Callum’s music and free-flowing alcohol. Let’s just say we were able to make the most out of it. I’ll let the photos I have speak for themselves!

We headed to our favorite jacuzzi spot near our rooms after the alcohol ran out (LOL) and continued our ‘getting to know’ session when the rain cut our revelations short. We then headed to the ‘bathrobe’ party happening at one of the bloggers’ rooms. You know you had a good night when the room key card at the end of it all looks like this:
Thank you Nivea!
My sister and I are beyond grateful for this unforgettable trip! As cliche as it sounds, it truly is one for the books. The memories of discovering awesome products from the brand (that cooling spray after basking in the sun! the In-Shower conditioners!), being spoiled rotten with delicious buffet spreads for every meal, waking up to the sound of waves crashing along with a picturesque postcard-worthy view. And the best part – meeting new friends in and outside the blogging world and getting to know my fellow beauty bloggers through our night jacuzzi sessions. I hate to sound cheesy but Nivea nailed it with its theme as we all did COME CLOSER – to the brand, to each other and… to not going back home and leaving the paradise that is Balesin.
Ending this with my sister and I’s annoying ‘let’s-play-with-the-balls’ faces! God, I miss that room and the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf coffee maker.

So fun!! I love games like that! Runnung around and working. And I also love their Lip Butters. The Vanilla and Macadamia smells soooo good!!! PS I dunno if it’s just me but your sister kinda looks like Desi Perkins. Really. I thought long and hard that she looks like someone and I finally came to the conclusion that it’s Desi.

Great photos! What lipstick were you wearing in your OOTD photos? My sister is looking for a deep, deep red lipstick and I want to give her suggestions on what to buy 😀 It’s kinda hard to find that shade in local drugstore brands.

Asking questions are really pleasant thing if you are not
understanding anything fully, except this post presents pleasant understanding even.

It’s genuinely very difficult in this full of activity life to listen news on TV,
so I simply use internet for that reason, and get the latest news.

Paragraph writing is also a excitement, if you be acquainted with afterward you can write or
else it is complicated to write.

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the page
layout of your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or 2 images.
Maybe you could space it out better?
