sm-fragrance10 If you’re a perfume freak (like me), SM Aura has a holiday pop-up housing a few signature perfume brands that are offering discounts and other promotional offers until the end of the month. Calling all girlfriends/wives/just-dating partners, if you’ve a special someone who loves to always smell good, this is the perfect place to get your gifts for them this Christmas.  sm-fragrance-mistymom2sm-fragrance6

With Mikki and Yuki, my smell-every-perfume-there-is-and-let’s-pick-our-favorite companions for that afternoon affair. I think we got high (dizzy is probably the more accurate word) off the different scents we literally sniffed one by one that day, especially since coffee beans were nowhere in sight. Hah!

sm-fragrance4 sm-fragrance12 Versace leads the Floral category – and it has only recently gotten my full attention. How? Every single time Mikki and I see each other, I never fail to ask her what perfume she’s wearing. Yellow Diamond. It’s an energizing, sparkling, citrusy scent with a light floral sweetness that’s not cloying. The pink Bright Crystal is a tad too light for my taste, I want something with medium sillage, at least. And I’ve found that in Yellow Diamond. sm-fragrance2 sm-fragrance5 sm-fragrance3 Elizabeth Arden Green Tea (the original version) was one of my college perfumes. I remember how during Calculus and Accounting classes, every time I had a hard time solving problems – I’d take a breather, spritz on some perfume and instantly feel calmer. I’d even spray it on before exams so as to not lose my shit when it’s time to balance the financial statements. sm-fragrance9 sm-fragrance7 sm-fragrance8 Davidoff Cool Water a.k.a every guy (and his dog)’s perfume during High School! The memory is still as clear as (cool)water to me – after our PE classes then, our classroom would smell like all the guys bathed in Davidoff Cool Water. I remember being so thankful that the room was permeating with the fresh, sharp, clean, marine scent else it could have been reeking of gym socks and jock straps. sm-fragrance sm-fragrance11 Thierry Mugler. I went through two bottles of their best-selling perfume, Angel. I came across it at a Sephora in France and it became my “signature” scent from the time I was there until I got back to the Philippines from my exchange semester abroad. It’s a warm-spicy vanilla patchouli fragrance that smells so good in colder weather but a bit too cloying for the tropics. It has heavy sillage so a spray is usually enough – and it lasts the whole day and night. Best of all – it reminds me of all the European adventures we had back then. Sigh. sm-fragrance13 sm-fragrance14 sm-fragrance15sm-fragrance16 Are you curious as to what lipstick Mikki is wearing in this photo? I have a surprise post coming up soon. Stay tuned! *wink*

SM Fragrance Fest at SM Aura
For my face and outfit details, check out this post.
The opening ceremonies were hosted by the bubbly and ever-effervescent Bianca Valerio who schooled us on the very close ties of pheromones and pomegranate, as well as illustrating to us how Halle Berry puts on perfume. Hint: it involves rubbing the thighs. Three influencers were also interviewed on their favorite perfumes and how they do their own versions of Halle Berry’s routine. Tessa Prieto Valdez, with her bright and out-there casual ensemble (yes, that is her casual wear, folks!); JM Rodriguez, party boy extraordinaire and beauty queen slash everything else (enterpreneur, swimsuit designer, currently blogger slash interior design student) Maggie Wilson.
Now tell me, you guys – what’s your favorite perfume? Do you have a signature scent?

I’m really picky when it comes to fragances/perfumes. If it makes me sneeze, it’s a no-no for me. My absolute faves are the Jo Malone Blue Agave and Cacao Cologne and Love, Chloe. Dying to try the JM Wood Sage and Sea Salt too.

I learn something new everyday about you, Ray! I have not tried Jo Malone Blue Agave and Cacao – I think I haven’t even heard of it. 😐 I’m so lost with JM colognes! I only like Nectarine Blossom but it never lasts on me 🙁 Wood Sage and Sea Salt sounds like my kind of perfume, though. But I feel like you wouldn’t like my kind of perfumes because I like gourmand scents a lot – mostly, those are very strong at first. But I love the drydown stage so I look for perfumes that have nice drydowns 🙂

What I love about going to perfume launches is they always have the prettiest displays that I can’t recreate at home 😉 Love your look of the day!

I can’t say I have a signature scent anymore because I keep testing new fragrances. There are still scents that I reach for more than others, but I wouldn’t call anything a signature anymore 🙂

My favorite scents would be Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea and Marc Jacob’s Daisy. Next in line would be Fame by Lady Gaga. Hehe, I grew up wearing the EA Green Tea scent, from my first date, hs graduation and now…to my engagement. lol

I have yet to try Lancome or Guerlain fragrances and hope that it won’t trigger my fiance’s rhinitis. For daily wear, the “i-ride-sardine-can-vehicles-to-school” kind of day, I just use baby cologne. I hate the smell of expensive perfume mixed with b.o. and sweat of other people. It makes me dizzy. And I hate the thought of random men sniffing my scent 😛 Blech.
