Get Exposed

I’ve had this Tarte blush in Exposed for a while now (and have used it quite a number of times already!) but have forgotten about it during my crazy accumulation stage. I’ve always been loyal to mi NARS (and a few Chanel) blushes before I fell into the rabbit hole of these Tarte ones. Got this during those times I still get easily swayed by hypes and raving reviews (oh thooose days…). Thankfully though, it proved to be a good (I even dare say great) change. I usually go for no-fail pink or peachy pink blushes so had you asked me then if I really “needed” Exposed, I would’ve said yes without batting an eyelash. That slightly dusky rosy mauve nude goodness looks so wearable every single day of the year. I am a bit skeptical about the Amazonian clay hoo-ha, though. Tried researching (a.k.a ze Google) about Amazonian clay and its properties but all I get are Tarte links. So, yes, I am taking the “Amazonian clay” claims of nutrient-filled, good-for-the-skin whiznizz with a grain of salt (90% dismissing it as pure marketing). Although, the product itself, I’d have to admit – is still worth talking about.  ex3

The Lowdown

Tarte Exposed is simply described as ‘nude’. But for me, it’s not at all just that. It’s a warm rosy bronze shade that some describe as mauve, some plum – but it doesn’t show up like those at all on me. In fact, the slightly red tones are prominent on my cheeks so instead of looking ‘nude’, it appears pinker than I imagined it to be. On others, the warm bronze shades come out more making it look the warm, rosy bronze I so wanted to achieve.

So, I haven’t fully been observant when wearing this so I can’t vouch for the 12-hour claim, but I will say that it is quite long-lasting. A few NARS blushes don’t last longer than 5 hours on my cheeks, but this has gone from morning till the end of a work day with just an ever so slight fading.

Quite the same in texture with the NARS powders that are hard in pan. However, when swatched, they feel smoother and a smidgen creamier than some NARS ones that are powdery and a bit dry. You can see from the arm swatches how they seem to meld into the skin vs. just sitting atop it, which I guess is the reason why it seems to be more long-lasting. It has buildable pigmentation (which I prefer with powder blushes to avoid looking clownish), but color already shows up upon first swipe. 1B

Despite the pinkish tones that come out on my cheeks making it an un-rosy bronze that I didn’t want it to be, I’m enamored by Tarte blushes in general because they are easy to apply, hard to overdo, last long on the cheeks and look natural despite the frightening pan colors. I’d like to thank @USBeautyOutlet, owned by my equally-kikay friend from college Roseann and her sister, for sending over another Tarte Exposed blush that I have decided to give away to 1 loyal reader. Only requirement is to follow @USBeautyOutlet on Instagram. Good luck and make use of the Rafflecopter thingy below to join, guys. You know what to doooo.

I’ve been skeptical about buying this Tarte blush coz it’s too expensive :/ If ever I do buy Tarte (or ze boyfriend haha), I’d pick Natural Beauty over Exposed coz I prefer pink blushes 😉 Nice giveaway!

  11. January 16, 2014 / 1:34 pm

Tarte recently came to Singapore, and this one was the shade they said I should get. It looks amazing but in end, I purchased Dollface.

  12. January 16, 2014 / 1:40 pm

Ok, medyo decided na sana ako sa Nars Sin, but you just had to make an entry on tarte hahaha. I think there’s a color similar to Sin. Aaagh, ang hirap. If only I can just buy it all #notrealproblems

The first time I heard about Tarte is when I was trying to research a blush on that really lasts. It is one of those brands that are highly recommended for such a claim, but I remember they were referring to the liquid version though, not the powder. Still I’d love to have one of those. You had me by the “long-lasting” part.

Shade of the infamous Tarte blushes, which has been reviewed by many beauty gurus/bloggers I would want to try on, love the unique color, can pass as a bronzer but I would really love to use it as an everyday blush because of the rosy tone in it. There’s a “healthy looking” cheeks in it when used

  19. January 16, 2014 / 8:06 pm

While it wasn’t the bronzy goodness you’d hoped for, it does look gorgeous on you! Exposed is so unique in that I find it looks different on everyone! It’s a serious favorite of mine. 🙂

  20. January 16, 2014 / 8:58 pm

Hey Shari, I do really like how Exposed looks on you! I have 3 Tarte blushes, and I really need to give them some love. I went off them because I realized how badly they oxidized on me during a trip back home. and they have been sitting in my drawer unloved ever since. It is really not fair though, since the climate here is by far less humid and warm!

  21. January 16, 2014 / 11:23 pm

I’ve been hearing lots of really good things about this–especially Tarte! I’m gonna try and join the Rafflecopter 🙂

I’ve been lusting over this blush for the longest time! Always thought that it would work as a contour, but it might be a bit too pink on me. Still love the shade though! 🙂

  34. January 18, 2014 / 10:35 pm

You inspired me to dig this out of my blush drawer, I forgot that it even exists. I like the radiance that it seems to give off but I do find the quite dry texture a little bit tricky to work with (or mainly swatch in photos, lol). I have another Tarte blush in Dollface but I definitely prefer Exposed. I’m kind of eyeing Tipsy but I have enough coral/peach blushes to last the next 5-10+ years so I’m holding out for now.

  37. January 19, 2014 / 6:52 am

I’ve always been hesitant to try the Tarte blushes – one time a Sephora sales associate applied one of them on me and I looked so drunk!

Is the contest only open for US residents?

I think that the color is very nice. It’s kind of nudy pink, like a contouring blush. 😀
