My Thoughts on the March BDJ Box x L’Oreal

Somehow, I’ve skipped out on featuring my BDJ boxes since I gave birth. One of my most favorite boxes ever was the Shiseido one. I still haven’t finished the testers as I’ve moved on to other skin care items but will definitely post about them when I do get to use them up. For this post, I’ll feature yet another impressive box, this time sponsored by L’Oreal Philippines.
Four full-sized items! WOW. Can you say generous? You go, L’Oreal! Anyway, included in the box are the ff:
Fall Repair Hair Shampoo*
Fall Repair Hair Conditioner*
UV Perfect Longlasting UV Perfector*
Shine Caresse in Juliette *
Youth Code Pre-Essence
UV Perfect BB Max
Color Riche Les Nail Art
*Full-sized samples
In each box, I have my favorites and in this one, it would have to be the UV Perfect Sunscreen. I love that it has SPF50 and PA+++. Ultimate protection from both UVA and UVB, aging and burning rays of Mr. Sun. However, it does have its down sides which I’ll talk more about after the jump. I would have loved the Shine Caresse but I don’t like the shade Juliette at all. Maybe I’ll give it another chance soon.
I’ve been using the L’Oreal shampoo and conditioner included in this set and it’s okay. I can’t really judge its efficacy as I don’t have major hair fall problems, but I like how it leaves my hair smoother than my usual shampoo, Herbal Essences, which makes it all tangly. The conditioner is so-so too. Nothing too shmancy, unlike when I used the SYOSS conditioner which really left me wanting to hug my hair in all its bouncy glory.
The UV Perfect sunscreen has been the only product I’ve been using daily when I’m too lazy for makeup. My skin has brightened a bit after using some new skin care products and have entirely skipped my makeup routine save a lipstick and/or a blush when I feel not-too-lazy. My only qualm is that it’s too dewy that it already looks slickity-festy. Of course, this can be solved by a pressed or a finishing powder on top that I just skipped altogether because my face is on a self-proclaimed makeup ban.

The L’oreal Shine Caresse is touted as a dupe for the YSL Glossy Stain. At first, I was apprehensive as the YSL glossy stain’s formulation is amazing and after having tried a few L’Oreal lipsticks, I wasn’t sure they could pull off a YSL dupe. To my surprise, the claim held up. I’ll make a separate entry about that soon but I’ll leave you with this comparison.
On the left is the YSL glossy stain and on the right is the L’Oreal Shine Caresse. The YSL packs more punch and is more pigmented, but the L’Oreal Shine Caresse doesn’t look too bad at all. in fact, it’s quite pigmented as well. The stains left after the gloss has dissipated are equally long-lasting with the YSL stain being a bit more pigmented than the Shine Caresse. All in all, for the Php1,000+ difference in prices, the Shine Caresse is definitely worth a try if you’ve been lemming for the YSL glossy stain.
The Youth Code and the UV Perfect BB Max, I have yet to try. But the Color Riche Le Nail Art is an ingenious product. I can not do my own nails, let alone nail art, for shit. I could never paint my nails without looking like I spilled watercolors all over my hands or if I could, it would have taken 2742837++ hours and 382837++ retries. Stick-on nail art is the best invention for someone like me who has those problems mentioned above plus having nil time to go to a nail salon for a session. Check it out in action in the photo below.
Those are my sister’s, as I can’t sport those nails that long now that I’m taking care of my baby girl. And just to show you all how completely clueless I am with nail blingz~ and all, I tried one piece of that nail stick-on on me and I put it upside down. Instead of the glitters on the base of the nail and cutting off the black side that exceeds the nail, I did it the other way around. So the glitters were on top and I cut the black part that exceeded the base. *smack me now*
And to end this post, it’s only but proper to end it with a few words of L’Oreal wisdom. Ta-ta!

I LOVE L’OREAL!!! 🙂 Your lil anecdote about how you cut the nails wrong made my day, though. I’m glad I read this before trying out my own. Haha.
