Get Naked With Me Again: Naked 2 Palette

I didn’t plan on getting this palette at all but my ever-so-loving husband saw it at a bazaar we recently went to and bought it for me despite my outright refusal. I wanted to buy something else actually because I only recently got the first edition of this palette (from him too!) and was quite content and happy with it. But he insisted to get it anyway — so thank you, my love, for being an unrelenting supporter of my vainglorious pursuit for the best beauty products. I would never have discovered the wonders of this palette (and so much more) without your resolute understanding of this fascination I have towards cosmetics and skincare.

I would like to also thank Aliza Sim of AlizaSim Beauty Store for a hassle-free transaction when I bought from her the Naked 1 palette I blogged about in this post. Apart from competitive prices, she offers great discounts for loyal customers so do check her Multiply store for your Christmas makeup shopping. Right now, she’s selling a Naked 2 palette for only P2,500 (while others sell it at P2,800 – P3,500)!

Moving on, check out the jump for a comprehensive review on this loved-by-many product!

Compared to the Naked 1 palette packaging which is a cardboard case stamped with chocolate brown velvet, Naked 2 is made of plastic that is enclosed in an embossed metal casing. It feels much sturdier, making it withstand wear and tear better than the Naked palette. The downside however, is that it weighs heavier.

As compared to the Naked 1 palette which has warm tones, this particular palette offers cool tones such as taupe and greige neutrals. To be honest, I like the Naked 1 colors more  not only for its warmer-toned eyeshadows but also for its variety in shades. Looking at the Naked 2 colors on the pan at first glance, they seem to vary from one another quite a lot. But after swatching them, some shades register too similarly to each other. However, the shadows do differ quite a lot from Naked 1 and that’s what I appreciate. I can mix and match from both palettes and generate quite a number of looks. Well from one palette alone, the neutral combinations to be made are plenty already and with both palettes — eyeshadow application has never been more fun (well for a neutral junkie like me!).

Foxy — creamy light yellow with matte finish. Works as a base color.
Half Baked — shimmery golden copper from the permanent line and a repeat from the original Naked palette.
Bootycall —shimmery light beige. It is a warmer version of Virgin from Naked. Great for inner ducts and browbone highlight.
Chopper — metallic copper with very fine silver glitter. A warmer, more orange version of Sidecar from Naked 1.
Tease — creamy pale brown with matte finish. Similar to Buck from Naked 1, only more cool-toned.
Snakebite — new, metallic dark bronze. It looks like a cross between Smog and Darkhorse from Naked 1.
Suspect —shimmery light golden beige that has been discontinued.
Pistol — shimmery light gray-brown.
Verve — frosty pink-tinged grayish white.
YDK — metallic cool bronze.
Busted —shimmery cool dark brown color.
Blackout — intense matte black. Great for upper lash line shadows and smokey eye base.

Star of the Palette
I just have to rave about this Double-ended Good Karma brush included in the palette. The brush in the Naked 1 palette I wasn’t so impressed with as it was too big for my lids and too stiff, in my opinion. I wasn’t able to make use of it really. This Good Karma dual-ended brush however comes with the crease brush that is very soft, fluff and perfect for blenidng shadows. It is slowly becoming my go-to brush for blending purposes! I absolutely love it. If it were sold separately, I’d buy a back-up one.

Lipgloss vs. UDPP
Nothing beats the Urban Decay Primer Potion that came with the Naked 1 palette. I wish it could have been that or another version of that (Sin or Eden) that came with the Naked 2 instead. I absolutely have no penchant for lipgloss so this lipgloss that came with this palette is pretty much useless to me.

1. I like this palette, but I love my Naked 1 palette more. I’m a neutral shadows type of girl that pink and purple shades are the ones I consider my more adventurous colors already. So these Naked palettes I really have a great affinity for.
2. If you’re Asian and have warm undertones like me, the Naked 1 definitely suits our skin tone more than the colors in this Naked 2 palette. So definitely, you have to get the Naked 1 before this (if you do plan on getting both!)
3. I think that these Urban Decay palettes aren’t ultra-hyped for nothing. They appeal to everyone, old or young, beginner or pro in makeup application, adventurous or demure, etc. They even appealed to my mom who is very meticulous and uber-picky with her eyeshadows.

Both Naked palettes are amazing but I also prefer the Naked 1 better as it seems to have more wearable shades. YDK looks very nice in your swatch! And what a lucky girl, having your husband buy you the second Naked palette 🙂

You know, this is totally random, but when I was little girl I pictured that my name would be Shari 😀 It’s not Finnish name, so obviously can’t really use it but it’s such a lovely name.

    Indie by heart

  23. December 15, 2012 / 9:38 am

Oh, you got this for 2000+? If you’d gone to the World Trade Bazaar, some stalls were selling legit NAKED and NAKED 2 palettes for 1500-2000 just to get rid of their stock. Congrats on the find though. Just got my NAKED palette and am totally excited to get this one as well~ Thanks for sharing!

    • December 19, 2012 / 8:16 pm

I saw 1500-2000 sellers promising their lives it’s authentic but they’re fakes! Ive researched every bit of this and I am 100% sure about fakes vs. original UD products 🙂 But then again, who knows maybe there are those who sell them for 1500 na authentic! I just didnt find them in all the bazaars Ive been to 🙂

  24. December 16, 2012 / 10:21 pm

Oh my lordie I’m so jealous! I’ve always wanted this palette! Tell me has it lived up to your expectations? Does it have good quality pigments?

    Check out my blog!

    • December 19, 2012 / 8:13 pm

YES! The eyeshadows are very soft, buttery and pigmented! With the Primer Potion as base, it’s even better!

  25. December 17, 2012 / 12:38 am

I actually have and love this palette! The brush is amazing isn’t it??? I just ordered the new UD Naked Basic palette. I still need to get the Naked 1 palette and after reading this post, it totally want it even more! lol Happily following back! Keep in touch 🙂 xoxo

    • December 19, 2012 / 8:12 pm
