Eyeshadow application has got to be one of the toughest challenges in my makeup routine. For some reason, my non-existent Art skills are manifesting in putting on eyeshadow on myself or on other people. I just can’t seem to create a decent look — I get so frustrated! However, during the past months (since I got pregnant which made me have all the time in the world!), I have been practicing this skill quite so often when I do my makeup. I would like to say I’ve improved already but I’ll let you be the judge of that!Sorry for the messy palette. One of the pans broke during our flight back to Manila. Anyway, before I show you my ‘work of art‘, I’d like to share my thoughts on a very affordable eyeshadow palette I used on this look which I purchased back in a Watson’s drugstore at Bangkok — 4U2 I-Pro Professional Make-up Palette in Modern. I’ve been so keen on getting the Naked or Naked2 palette but I would hate for my money to go to waste considering I absolutely suck at putting on eyeshadow. I wanted to perfect the skill first before I invest in such big guns as the Naked palettes. However, this 4U2 palette has definitely exceeded my expectations, especially since it only retails for around Php990!
The packaging is a sturdy, solid plastic black casing that houses 8 shimmery neutral eyeshadows. It actually weighs a bit heavier compared to other palettes. For each pan, you get 2.5g of product, compared to regular MAC eyeshadows that contain 1.5g of product only.
The pigmentation is astounding for a drugstore brand. The shadows above were all swiped only once. Definitely great color pay-off! The last four shadows are more pigmented than above (see picture below for the actual first swipe). The texture is so buttery and soft, not at all dry nor powdery. The messy glitters are due to my own clumsiness while swatching the products, they don’t fall out quite as easily, I assure you. I don’t experience fallout as much as other drugstore eyeshadows I’ve used. The average length of wear is a full day — 8 hours or so with very minimum fallout and that’s without eye primer! Most of the time, I wear MAC Paint Pot in Painterly when I want it to last until night time.
The CONS —
Easily breaks! When I unpacked this from my luggage, one palette has already crumbled! I just fixed it with alcohol (which I learned in Pinterest!) to make it whole again but I believe it’s very sensitive.
Also, no matte shades (not even just one) found in this palette. I guess they have their other palettes for that but I hope they included at least one.
This is one look I created from this palette. I used three shades —the white one for the inner corners and browbones, the light bronze shade for lids and darker bronze for the outer corners. A very simple look!
Final thoughts: Will I repurchase this palette?
I think I’m ready for my Naked or Naked 2 palette!
However, for those on a budget and don’t want to shell out Php3000 for an eyeshadow palette yet, this is your greatest bet!
Great pigmentation, minimal fallout and long-lasting wear for only 1/3 the price of high-end palettes.
