The beautiful set-up for the Team Arellano x Babyflo Launch. What is #NurseryRoomGoals?
Let Love Flow
One of the Philippine’s homegrown brands that has been in the market for decades now is stepping up their baby care game to reach and respond to millenial parenting woes (millenial parents, raise your hands!). Babyflo, a well-loved Filipino brand, knows the Filipino Mom best. They have been providing quality, affordable baby products such as bottle needs, baby food and drink accessories, pacificers, teethers as well as baby skin care products for a long time already. With this new campaign, they are celebrating a lot of firsts – first celebrity endorsers for the brand and a first family endorsement for this celebrity family as well!
Philusa (pronounced PHIL-OO-SA, not PHIL-yoo-ess-ey) president, the super warm and funny Mr. Neogin Evangelista sharing anecdotes about the company, the Arellano family and their upcoming projects!
And so, the brand’s First Family, their first ambassadors for the brand ever is none other than the lovable and super kulit Team Arellano. When I was invited to go to the launch, I was truly excited to go. I’m a fan of the Arellano couple – Drew Arellano and Iya Villania – whom I follow on Instagram and ever since before. Way back when Iya was still a VJ, pre-ABSCBN. I even know her first ever gig pa as a game channel VJ! Uh-huh, yes, you can call me a fangirl. I love her!
So when she became a mom to the adorable Antonio Primo, my love and admiration for her and her family grew even more! She shares (and is not afraid to show) what real motherhood looks and feels like behind the ‘Gram. Motherhood is tough, it’s challenging and it’s unlike any other. The first few months, you can really go crazy if you don’t have a steady and strong support system – from the lack of sleep, the overwhelming new terrain of motherhood, the pressure of being the best, etc. The list goes on.
She has one photo on Instagram I absolutely love and can not forget. She’s in between her taping wearing a plain white shirt with no stitch of makeup on, looking straight at the camera about to take in a bite of a half-devoured rainbow cake. The caption says, “What motherhood looks like. Eyebags, dark circles, hungry, craving for some sugar, eating from the actual cake and the look of ‘get that camera out of my face ‘cos the world doesn’t need to see me like this!'” Sums up new motherhood perfectly.
The First Family! Oh my goodness, will you look at that baby boy? Nakakagigil. He really looks like those babies on baby ads!
Advanced Happy Father’s Day, Daddy Drew!
How do you balance everything?
As millenials, we are known to be multi-taskers. Yet in this digital age we live in, it is quite hard to truly disconnect when everything is at the click of your thumb. They couldn’t have had picked a better millenial couple than Iya and Drew who both work and have this ‘casual cool’ way of parenting (no air of preachiness at all). Because they both work, there is always that question of balance and making sure they are there for Primo despite their need to hustle. During the event, Drew and Iya candidly shared their experiences as first-time parents. The challenges, the victories, the in-betweens.
I have to say, when Iya and Drew talk, you will be captivated. They are so real and authentic, no shred of pretention in their bones. I could listen to them talk all day. In fact, nobody in the audience realized we had already been there for 3 hours (with lunch naman but still)!! That’s how entertaining and fun they both are to listen to. My ADD attention span was instantly cured. Their jokes and punch lines are always so witty, so relatable. Don’t be surprised if they have a reality show soon, guys! Ang saya saya lang nila!
So yes, speaking of their challenges, one of the challenges they experienced together is Primo’s first bath (and the succeeding ones!). They recounted the first time they had to give Primo a bath and how scared they were since he was so little pa. I feel ya, guys. I don’t know how I was able to do it, too. But Iya encouraged moms, “Just do it. With practice, you’ll definitely gain the confidence and skill to do it everyday na.”
Their Bath Time Routine
This is one of their latest product releases, the Babyflo Oatmeal Bath, enriched with colloidal oatmeal that is rich in protein. It is best for those with dry skin as it deeply moisturizes and eases itchy skin.
This is the other latest baby wash in the tandem, the Babyflo Soap-Free Bath, a mild and gentle cleanser for all skin types including those with sensitive skin.
“Bath time na baby, bath time na. May kaba si Mommy sa umpisa. G si Mommy paliguan ka, tiwala ako sa ‘ting dalawa. Smile mong magsasabing okay na. Fun pag Babyflo bath time na!“. This is the official jingle that Iya really sings to baby Primo when it’s their bath time. It’s so cute to hear this being played and seeing Primo’s face light up (he’s associated it to him taking a bath na!). Anyway, after their sharing session, they held a rockeoke contest for who can sing the best “Bath time na baby” while Drew and Iya scored via rubber duckies. The winner, according to Drew, will win a “free bath time session with both him and Iya”! WOOHOO! Hahaha. I think they had about 8 contestants so yes, I’ve already memorized this, guys. Sharing the LSS with you!
Baby Primo, so cute whatever angle. I don’t know who he looks like though (di talaga ako magaling dito!). Drew or Iya?
Baby Primo with Iya’s road manager Ms. Vannessa | Baby Amaria, Selene’s Ninong’s pretty daughter
I feel part of #TeamArellano, guys! Look how color-coordinated we are. I was informed!!!! I am officially Primo’s yaya #2! Ang shy ko lang… kunwari.
Brand manager Jamie Reyes and I matching Drew and Iya (peg talaga namin sila. We really talked about this. We even have a Pinterest folder on our inspirations. Kidding!).
Hard to find genuine people nowadays but Jamie and her equally gorgeous boss, Marketing Head Ms. Maya Leander are so warm and affable – such positive people you want to be around. Before I left, we chika-ed about their shoot and what’s next for the brand while staring at little gwapito Primo!
You could see that these two were already quite tired and also thinking of Primo but they were so patient and nice to everyone who wanted interviews and photos with them/Primo. You really feel their sincerity and genuine kindness. I AM AMAZED EVEN MORE!
Let me end with this statement from Drew on how he and Iya plan to raise Primo as normally as possible. “It’s funny because people don’t know that I’m seven years older than Iya and I’m nearly 40. I think that’s a good thing. The kid makes us feel and look younger as well. As much as possible we will try to regulate his exposure, we will try to make him feel that he’s going to grow up like a normal kid. We will still continue to talk about it and do our best to make it feel that it’s normal. I don’t want him to be sanay with all the attention. Because you know naman what happens to a kid having that amount of attention. Medyo baka magkaroon ng negative effect yan eh paglaki niya. We don’t know yet. Okay naman yata yung pagpapalaki namin. It’s just a happy household eh. Kaya yun yung feeling ko nasasanay siya. Hindi naman niya nakikita yung social media or ang daming likes ng pinost ng nanay or tatay ko. Hindi naman niya nakikita yung commercials niya on TV. So now it’s still cool. Ang sinasanay lang namin sa kanya actually yung exposure sa mga tao and traveling.” Iya adds that he hopes Primo grows up with a good heart. “I just want him to be a good person who is God-fearing, strong willed and a pursuer of dreams.”
