A Subic Must-Visit
The newly improved Royal Duty Free Subic at Manila Avenue!
I’ve toured you guys around the old Royal Duty Free store in a previous entry. This time, I visited their newly renovated branch along Manila Ave. in Subic and I was floored. You know how we don’t really care much for a duty free store’s interiors because we care more about the tax-free prices we get to buy them for, right? I remember visiting other duty free stores in the Subic and Clark vicinity that have some parts falling apart but don’t mind anyhow because we get to shop tax-free! Well, Royal Duty Free doesn’t feel the same way, you guys. They did a major revamp of their old branch and turned it into a much more modern, elegant and organized one-stop duty free shop. It is a haven!
They are officially launching this March 31st so if you’re in the vicinity, like coming from the newly-opened Inflatable Island nearby, for example – you must stop by the new Royal Duty Free Subic! They have a newly opened Salad Bar, a make-your-own-Mongolian-bowl Bar, huge tax-free Lacoste and Under Armour boutiques, mini-stores for travel, beauty and watches. They also have a breastfeeding room for all the nursing mommas (so happy about this!). They are on soft opening and are still doing launch preparations (that’s why in my photos below some aisles still have boxes as they’re still on the process of stocking!) but I was able to get a sneak peek of half of the store. I’ll just let my photos below from our visit speak!
The outdoor view of the new store along Manila Avenue, you won’t miss it! Modern, clean yet striking.
The chocolates and candy section will greet you upon entering! Their selection is extensive from widely known brands to lesser known European artisan chocolates
Starbrook Airlines, a Belgian chocolate brand by Jaak De Koninck, artist and painter. Love the brilliant, nostalgic and vintage oil paint and watercolour illustrations done by Jaak himself.
Found a new flavor of my favorite Brookside chocolates – Mango & Mangosteen!! Opened it right there and then. I definitely like it more than the Acai and Blueberry variant!
Tristan: “Lay me down on a bed of… chocolates!”
My sweet tooth is tingling just by looking at this photo…
Their Easter Selection is ready for taking. Love the bags of Easter eggs which you can get and hide around your own house for a DIY Easter Egg Hunt with your kids!
If Ate Selene were with us, we would’ve spent a good 30 minutes in this section alone. Ha ha!
Are you a jerky lover? They have a selection of jerky – bacon, pork, korean bbq, hot and spicy beef, etc!
Another winner: buffalo blue cheese flavored cheese curls!
Fruits and Vegetables
Picking up fruits and veggies to mash for my solids-eating baby boy!
A local Fuji apple (right) vs a fuji apple from Japan (WHOA)
Seafood and Meat
Craving for seafood on this particular visit! Wanted to take home kilos of crabs!!
They have Australian beef at only Php323/kilo! Royal has an in-house meat brand that offers super competitive prices.
The army of salads to choose from – Macaroni, Potato, Buko Pandan, Buco Salad among others!
Pair your choice of salad with Dizon Farms’ Fresh Habit juices which are cold-pressed meaning they don’t lose any nutrients compared to when they are turned into fruit shakes, etc.!
One of their bestselling juices – Just Beet It. A concoction of carrot, celery, apple, sugar beet and spinach!
They also have Cold Storage sushi and sashimi in the Salad Bar station!
The aisles are spacious – no need to play bumper grocery carts with other shoppers!
Imported Ice Cream
Foxy’s Thoughtful Ice Cream is a super premium ice cream made with thoughtfully sourced ingredients and added pre and probiotics. It is diet sensitive and some of their flavors include gluten free, egg free, organic ingredients, all natural mostly non-GMO. Tried their Double Milk Chocolate and Rocky Road Less Travelled which are sooo good, you can finish a tub in one sitting. They are smooth, creamy and not too sweet that you feel sated easily. Plus, I love their branding. Hehe.
Coolhaus is a brand of ice cream that became popular when they launched their famous ice cream sandwiches (through a funky looking ice cream truck!) during a Coachella festival. The co-founders had mutual backgrounds in the design and real estate fields so they began naming their ice cream sandwiches after architects and architectural movements that inspired them (they dubbed it farchitecture marrying food + architecture). Their brand name is a marriage of Bauhaus, an influential modernist design movement of the 1920’s and 30’s and Rem Koolhaas, a famous Dutch architect and theorist.
Another premium brand, this time a soda brand – Teddy’s.
Ate Selene would go crazy in this section!
Shopkins Lip and Nail sets in cute, useable tumblers!
Who said duty free fashion was outdated? The fashion buyers of Royal Duty Free make sure their apparel and accessories are on trend.
Just one pair of shades that caught my eye!
They have trendy bag designs for work or play that range from Php 250 – Php1000!
Loved this blush handbag that matched my outfit that day! Also below are three of my personal bag picks.
Home and Living
They have bedsheets and comforter brands such as Jill Morgan, Chelsea Loft and East Hampton. Minimal, classic designs at such a steal price! They have king-sized comforter sets at Php1000.
Checked out their new boutique, Under Armour.
My favorite section! They have a selection of Burt’s Bees products – even Burt’s Bees Baby!
These Zest shower gels that smell soooo good I had a hard time selecting which scent to buy. May have chosen all three.
My favorite find – L’Oreal EverPure Sulfate-free Blonde!! Haven’t seen this in any supermarket yet. I wanted to hoard!
Beauty addicts will love these L.A Colors iced powder pigments!
More Shopkins items for the Shopkins-obsessed little ones (and even not-so-little ones)! Selene saw this photo and said, “Mom, why didn’t you buy that? I want it!”
Can you guess what Ate Selene said about this too?
The Royal Free Shuttle
Royal Duty Free has free shuttle services to and from their store. Their drop-off and pick-up point is in front of Golden Dragon restaurant, near the public transportation stands.
We rode the comfortable and clean shuttle coaster!
