My Little Mission Camper
… attends her first ever Alaska Ultimate Mission Camp
“Faux” ice skating, mini rock climbing, maze running – these are just some of the activities that Selene enjoyed at the first ever Alaska Ultimate Mission Camp. Looking around these days, it’s so hard to get kids off their gadgets and actually do physical activities. When I was a kid, I was the ultimate ‘outsider’ – I was always outside our house, climbing trees, chasing butterflies (and keeping them in bottles, bad I know), rollerblading, biking, etc – when others were playing inside with their brand new Playstation 1s. I even have the permanent scars to show for them, haha! This is something I want to pass on to Selene and Tristan without totally withholding gadget use (because they are quite educational too! Selene learned the alphabet and numbers watching videos).
This is why I absolutely love the idea of the Alaska Ultimate Mission Camp because it ties together the digital and the physical world. Selene loves Frozen, the movie – I think we’ve seen this a million times already. And at the Mission Camp, she was able to get a feel of the Frozen experience through the snow, the ice skating, the ice tunnels, etc. While Marvel superhero fans will be able to experience Spiderman’s flying and sticking through the giant trampoline and velcro wall activities. They also get to mingle with kids their age as they’re grouped into teams who’ve to help each other complete their tasks.
All in all, I highly encourage all moms to give their kids the gift of this experience. Watch out for the next Mission Camp and I hope to see you all there. Definitely taking Selene again to that next one!
