Dressing It Up
…aka my dressy breastfeeding outfit
Wow, a rare style post sighting – who am I and what happened to the real Shari?! I know – it’s been a while since I posted any fashion-related entries because well, I’ll give you three reasons. 1. I have been wearing my staple breastfeeding ‘uniform’ so it’s nothing really worth blogging about unless some moms are interested (note: I don’t have legit nursing wear, just a lot of low Vs and button-down tops). 2. Style posts are soooooo ma-effort! Seriously, you have to fix yourself up head-to-toe for photos, not to mention the posing, the ‘different’ angles.. Good gosh, I’m so glad I really went into beauty blogging. Salute to fashion bloggers. I will do this for the sake of sharing style finds but I can’t imagine doing it on the regular.
Lastly, 3. What do you even talk about when you post OOTDs?! “Oh yeah, I got this cute top from Dorothy Perkins and it matches so well with these cut-off shorts… oh and pants too! Did I mention you can style it in numerous ways?” Ho-hum. I just can’t get through a style post without dozing off reading the text when you’ll be seeing it in photos anyway and it’s much easier to show in that way. So for my style posts here, I’ll just babble on about life or anything else other than the outfits themselves just so I don’t put you all to sleep with my non-existent fashion writing skills.
Dorothy Perkins Style Heroes A/W 2016
I’ve always turned to Dorothy Perkins for when I need a more polished, timeless outfit that I can wear over and over again. When I was still working in the corporate world, the brand was my go-to when I needed business wear that’s not too serious or boring as well as something I can go out with at night and not look too much of a corporate slave, if y’know what I mean. Now that I attend quite a number of events, I find their collection perfect for “smart casual with a dash of style and a pinch of trend“.
This rust-colored dress is one of those pieces I’m sure to keep in my wardrobe for a long time. I don’t usually opt for color when I go shopping. Black, white, gray, beige and variations of cream and blush pink are usually my default picks. But there was something about this burnt orange/terracotta shade that lured me. Okay, so maybe it was also because of my preference for dresses (no need to match with any top or bottom) plus the fact that I only opt for button downs or low Vs at the moment because I breastfeed. Which is why I call this my dressy nursing outfit – who knew Dorothy Perkins had such a line? LOL! Whenever I wear this, I feel like it distracts whoever sees me in it from the smell of breast milk that’s currently my latest perfume, ha ha.
Paired it with nude heels and cream-ish clutch (which DID not fit anything in it MY GOSH. I have to get me a nude big bag)
So yeah, what else do you say in a style post? I wanted to share what I’ve been up to at the moment but I’m saving it for a new kind of post which I’ll be putting up soon here on the blog. Maybe I’ll just end it with this… “I love this dress so much – did I mention you can wear it with anything?!” Hehe. But yes, I do quite love this dress. Not sure if I can pair it with anything – I mean, I’ve been having a dress and sneakers stage at the moment but I’m not so sure this would match my Superstars or Stan Smiths. Or would it? Hmm.. What do you think? Also, do these style posts even interest readers anymore or are they more for Instagram na lang?
