Sephora Philippines

My first Sephora haul and it’s all about lipsticks!
Like any beauty addict, I was beyond ecstatic upon learning that one of my beloved beauty e-tailers, Luxola.com was transitioning into Sephora.ph earlier this year. That means more beauty brands accessible within the click of our fingers – with lightning fast shipping straight to your doorstep. It took all 20+ years of my mother’s discipline and my delayed gratification skills for me not to put the entire Burberry range into my basket and click ‘check out‘. It’s not as complete as the whole Sephora US store but slowly, I’m sure the other brands will trickle in. For this haul, I’ll be sharing three lip products within three different price points.
I almost got all three items from the same family shade. I know right. I had to consciously re-examine my cart and tell myself, “Variety is good, Shari. Please don’t be stupid“. I think I deserve a pat on the back, guys — I only got two similar shade lipsticks instead! I opted for two liquid matte lipsticks and one matte lipstick (which I’ve been lemming for such a long time now!). Budget-wise, I got one under Php 1000, one under Php2000 and one under Php3000.

Ciate Liquid Velvet

I didn’t know Ciate had their own version of the liquid matte lipstick so I was quite ecstatic to try this. Not to mention it was only Php804! Voodoo is a super vampy shade – reminded me of Kylie’s True Brown K. Voodoo leans more on the plum side compared to Kylie’s True Brown which has more brown so it registers quite differently. Also, I’m not quite sold on the application as it was patchy and uneven all over. Granted, this is an issue with almost all dark, vampy shades. I also find that this bleeds terribly because it doesn’t dry quickly – I find it a pain to clean up because it stains! The good thing is — because it doesn’t dry up completely, it isn’t as drying as the Kylie ones. Actually, I find this formula less drying than most liquid lipsticks I’ve tried. I’m curious to try the other shades to see if they aren’t as fussy as Voodoo. If you’re feeling adventurous, try Envy – a unique blue shade.

Burberry Lip Velvet

AHHHHH! This is one of the products I’ve been pining over for years now – I was just too distracted disciplined to give in to temptation. Yay me. But as I was browsing through the shades of the Lip Velvets, I noticed a new-ish shade that I’m sure I haven’t encountered before yet which is Nude Rose. I even searched for swatches and could only find a few which means this is just renamed from Peony Rose to Nude Rose (but are the same) or this is an entirely new shade(?). Any Burberry expert out there, please enlighten me.
Anyhow, the lipstick formula is a dream for someone with extremely parched lips a.k.a me. This is one of the more moisturizing matte lipsticks I’ve tried – no wonder, it contains four hydrating ingredients. However, it’s extremely lightweight! It feels a bit like Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet – barely there but did I mention… moisturizing? The downside, I guess, is it’s not the boldly pigmented in one swipe BABAM matte lipstick you’re used to. I do have to layer it on twice to get the pay-off on my FOTD below.

Studio 10 Longlast Velvet Liquidlips

I’ve never heard nor have come across this brand in my years of beauty blogging. But as I read through its description in Sephora, I got ultimately curious about it that I chucked it in my cart for the below Php3k option. Studio 10 Longlast Velvet is a demi-matte liquid lipstick featuring a silky smooth formula enriched with antioxidant complex and Vitamin E. I find it lightweight and non-sticky when worn. The pay-off is rich and I love it applies smoothly, doesn’t flake nor dry out the lips. If you’re looking for an ultra-matte finish, this is not it. It feels like a creamy, satin full-cover lipstick with the a really plush feel. If there were more shades, I would definitely look into it more – sadly, there are only 3 options. For its price, I would consider it a splurge, definitely. But if you have very iffy lips and want a very nourishing yet pigmented lipstick, then this is your bet.

If I were given a chance to choose without paying for it I’d choose Studio 10 Longlast Velvet Liquid Lips, for the reason that it has anti-oxidant and Vitamin E which is known to be good for the skin, since I do experience drying of lips (madalas). Also I love how it looked on you and the shade just perfect for daily use even at work (since the organization don’t encourage too much colors on lips, hehe but I do cheat sometime, who could blame me? I’m only a girl who loves to play with my makeup #happiness). Though these lippies are nice Id prefer buying the less expensive one within the range of my budget I guess. Thanks for the reviews.. XOXO Take care

Oh my god,, honestly, I love all the shades too but I think my favorite would be the Burberry lip velvet– haven’t tried any cosmetics from Burberry because it’s too pricey for me, but I think this one is price worthy and a must try.. 🙂
