The Clinique Chubby Stick SCULPTING Highlight
This. is. not. a. drill. Remember when I blogged about the Chubby Sticks before? Okay, probably not since that was a long time ago. But I did mention then that I wish Clinique would come out with Highlight and Contour Chubbies as well. And guess what? They actually had one in the works while I was pining over them! I received this Sculpting Highlight Stick a while back and I’ve been wanting to blog about it just because I’ve been getting queries about highlighting and I find that this is one of those products best suited for those intimidated by the product.

Lowdown
Like all of Clinique’s Chubby Sticks, this Highlighter comes in a plastic twist-up tube with a reflective cap. The product itself inside is a pale pink balm with a silver-white sheen. The formula is quite emollient so it glides over the skin with ease. I find all Chubby Sticks to be super blendable which I love. Fuss-free and on-the-go, check. Its balm-like texture makes it best suited for those with normal to dry skin types, as it may be too moisturizing for those with combination/oily skin.
Now, here comes the tricky part. While I love the look of this highlighter – very sheeny without being glittery, sparkly or over-the-top shimmery, I find that it could accentuate pores. So what I do is wear this over a smoothening, HD foundation that blurs pores for a really nice finish. On days when I have “cooperative skin” a.k.a my pores aren’t saying “hello world”, cheeks are not overly dry, skin is moisturized and plumped, then I can use this on its own.
I find that this lasts a good 5 hours before I notice it eventually fading. However, for the good 5 hours, you’ll get that real nice ‘glowing skin‘. What I appreciate the most about this stick is that you can just draw two lines on, blend with your fingers or pat et voila, you can glow~ on with your day. Definitely those for the lazy folks like me!

I feel that the effect of the Clinique Chubby Stick highlighter will also depend on the skintone. Since I’m a medium NC30 Asian, I find the highlight perfect. Those with darker skintone may find it a bit too overwhelming as it does have quite a sheen. While those with lighter skintone might find the highlight too underwhelming as it blends in too well. Definitely give it a swatch in the counter if you’re thinking of purchasing – I believe this only comes in one shade.

I’m definitely a cream or liquid kind of girl. Since my face gets dry (yet looks oily) throughout the day, it doesn’t pick up on those flakes parts. Subtlety is the way I like to wear my makeup and those types usually don’t contain glitter and just mesh with my skin!
Actually i have never tried using a highlighter before, a friend told me once to simply try it. Ive watched a lot of tutorial videos on how to apply highlighter and it looked beautiful on some ladies but there were also whom were quite overwhelm that looked more unnatural if I may say.. Maybe one of these days ill be giving this a try,( why not)
This reminds me of one of my favorite highlighters from Flower beauty, but this looks like a lighter shade so it might be even better suited for me! Great post, I love how this looks on you x
