Normally, I wouldn’t accept whitening products on the blog. But then I realised it’s almost quite like body or makeup shaming for those readers who are eager and into skin lightening. While I advocate loving your own skintone shade, I don’t look down on those who want to achieve fair skin because it makes them feel good or better about themselves. Just like us beauty girls who are judged for wearing “too much makeup, you look better with no makeup on” or get comments like “why do you feel the need to wear bright red lipstick on a daily basis” – we don’t want to discriminate against those who want to have lighter skin because it makes them feel more confident.
So for the first time on the blog, I’m featuring a whitening brand that aims to help those who want to achieve lighter skin or just even out the skintone all over their body through this brand’s superior exfoliating properties namely with kojic acid. Kojic acid actually comes from sake or Japanese rice wine. It’s a powerful skin exfoliant that removes dead layers of the skin, at the same time supresses melanin (skin’s brown pigment), to reveal a much whiter and smoother skin tone underneath.
#1 Kojic Acid Brand in the Philippines
After 9 years since it entered the market, homegrown brand Kojie San is now the #1 Kojic soap in the country. While I’m not aboard the whitening train, I would love to use this on my darker areas and see how the exfoliating properties would work on evening out the color of my skintone. Note for those who are into skin whitening/lightening, I hope you’re wearing sunscreen all over your face and body when you use such products because your skin will be more prone to the sun’s UVA/UVB rays due to exfoliation. Even those who do chemical peels in the derma are urged to wear sunscreen always (even when they’re staying indoors!) because peeling makes you more susceptible to darkening.
Skin Lightening Soap. It is the most potent of the range as it contains the highest amount of high-grade Kojic Acid prevents melanin production for lighter, clearer skin. It also effectively diminishes dark spots, freckles, acne, plus stretch marks and unevenness.
Cleanser + Toner. It is equipped with Ginseng Extract and Rosehip Oil to revive tired skin. I believe this doesn’t have kojic acid in it, as it just really is a cleanser and a toner to rid skin of excess oil and dirt – sort of serves as a prepping ritual for the face cream.
Face Lightening Cream. A combination of natural extracts plus high-grade Kojic Acid lightens as it nourishes the skin and restores skin suppleness for a healthy, rosy look. It’s meant to serve as your night cream moisturizer to counter the effects of possible dryness you’ll encounter from using kojic acid.
Body Lightening Lotion. It also contains Kojic Acid plus Rosehip Oil which whitens the rest of the skin on your body as it heals scars and marks in the process. It’s formulated to absorb fast and leave no oily residue. Included in its ingredients are collagen and Vitamin E to increase skin’s elasticity and youthfulness.
Bring Your Skin To Light
So for those who have stubborn dark spots they want to treat, have uneven skin tone from uneven tanning sessions – or those who just want to try out skin whitening because it makes them feel good about themselves, let me know your thoughts on this. I’d love to hear discussion about your thoughts on skin lightening in general! If you’re eager to try out Kojie San, they’re available in all leading supermarkets, drug stores, and sari-sari stores nationwide.
