14-Day Skincare Challenge
Using the Physiogel Calming Relief Face Cream
I’ve finally completed my Free in My Skin challenge using the Physiogel Calming Relief Face Cream that’s touted to be the best solution for dry, sensitive, redness-prone skin. As I mentioned halfway through the challenge, I used this in conjunction with my other skincare products namely the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum and it layers on pretty well with it, as well as with other skincare products that absorb well into the skin.
Just to give you guys a brief overview again, my main concern for taking on this challenge is the occasional dryness on my cheeks (which makes foundation/base application such a pain! Dry patches look terrible with foundation!) and the intense redness around my nose area. After a week of usage, I noticed that my perpetual redness issue was minimally reduced but my skin texture was plumper, more hydrated and softer overall. But after two full weeks, what exactly are the more palpable results? Let’s see…
I applied the Face Cream day and night after cleansing and serum application. Yes, as a base before makeup which is very helpful in removing all the annoying flakies!
after 2 weeks
My bare face sans any eyebrow grooming (yikes, sorry about that) and base products!
I started this challenge with relatively clear skin but with annoying dryness on my cheeks and with my chronic redness that just doesn’t seem to ever go away. After 2 full weeks, the redness has drastically subsided – although not completely gone. There’s still minor red patches around the nose area. The dryness on my cheeks and area under my eyes have disappeared completely making it seem like I never had them at all. My skin looks and feels more hydrated, plumped up and just healthier!
As a moisturizer, I can’t ask for more from the face cream. It absorbs quicker than most lotions and creams and really makes for a good day moisturizer under makeup. I used to hate putting on moisturizer before makeup because it makes my face greasier than usual in this tropical heat. I only dabbed a small amount on dry patches to help with base application, but even then, I tended to skip it altogether because most of my moisturizers are too rich for daytime.
I think the daily, consistent usage paired with the effectiveness of the cream’s BioMimic technology, my skin was able to repair the broken moisture barriers that have been brought about by my previous inconsistent and neglectful skincare regimen (I mean, I used serums regularly but skipped moisturizer most of the time! Eeek, no don’t be like me).
Also, another thing I observed with the regular Face Cream usage is that when I got breakouts, they seemed to make them less angry and even shortened the life span of the breakout. Do note that this is not an acne treatment, it just helps soothe redness of the breakout/pimple/acne.
And that is it for my 14-day challenge! To be honest, I continued using it even after and my skin texture hasn’t been better. I’ve used it in my recent trip to Japan where the cold weather took a toll on my skin – I’ve noticed dry patches creeping up again but was instantly banished with the Physiogel Face Cream. Definitely one of those skincare bottles that will be on my bedside table on the regular.
