In the years I’ve been slapping paint on my face, I’ve yet to master the art of “no mistakes”. It’s not a big deal, I know. Even pros make ‘mistakes’ on their clients they have to clean up. But I personally find it a waste of precious time – especially if I’m in a hurry to finish up. Eyeliner mistakes are the worst because I end up redoing my whole eye makeup every time I try to correct an eyeliner mishap.
So with this NIVEA Makeup Challenge, we’ll see how easy it is to clean up make-up mishaps (sans the frustration of removing your entire makeup!!) using the NIVEA Gentle Facial Cleansing and NIVEA 3-in-1 Daily Deep Cleansing Exfoliating Wipes that I’ve long been loyal to for makeup removal. Prior to this challenge, I actually already use the Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes as a “mistake remover”.
For my personal challenge, I’ve been tasked to do “Classic Beauty” a la Audrey Hepburn. A strong red lip, defined brows – nothing too crazy. The key for this look is keeping the base very flawless-looking and clean. I know, for sure, I’ll have makeup mishaps along the way but with the help of the wipes, I realized it was a breeze to clean up.
Inside my Glamourbox x NIVEA challenge kit are the two packs of the NIVEA Cleansing Wipes, a small tin of the classic Nivea Lip Butter, Pixi Beauty, Ofra, Eye of Horus and Pop Beauty makeup products that I should utilize for the challenge.
Lip Balm, First!
I’ve extremely dry and parched lips so before I start my makeup routine, I usually always start with lip balm. Especially since I’ll be doing a classic, bold red lip – I don’t want it to appear flaky or bumpy. Yoikes! Audrey Hepburn surely wouldn’t be happy if I donned her signature red that way.
Face, Eyes, Lips
The Pixi H20 Tint is diviiiiine. I love the cooling gel-ish texture. It has the coverage of a tinted moisturizer – light to medium. It feels hydrating without the icky oily, greasy feel. A new favorite base, yes? I’ll use the Pop Beauty Eyeshadow Duo in Bark Brown as eyeshadow, Eye of Horus eyebrow pen for filling in my brows and the Ofra Liquid Lipstick in Sta. Ana for the shade of crimson on my puckers.
I’ve learned that it’s best to keep these wipes handy on my vanity table for moments such as these below.
#1: Eyeliner Smudges
The worst mistake I could possibly make is anywhere with my eyes because sometimes it entails redoing the whole eye! Sounds exaggerated but every time I try to clean it up with micellar water on a Q-tip, I end up ruining half of my eyeshadow. As counter-intuitive as it sounds to use a makeup wipe, it actually fares better because the NIVEA wipe isn’t excessively wet, it removes only the flaky area and it doesn’t leave any oily film which ruins the whole makeup look.
MAKEUP MISTAKE #2: LIPSTICK SMUDGES
The perfect red lip can be a bit challenging to pull off especially if you’re not a lip liner person. In this case, I used a liquid lipstick which is usually quite messy to apply depending on the applicator, the consistency and the drying period of the lipstick. The Ofra Liquid Lipstick in Sta. Ana isn’t that hard to work with but it still left me with excess product to wipe off (mostly because of my application skills or lack thereof!). The NIVEA wipe was able to remove the smudgy red bleeding without much rubbing involved.
I Tag You!
What do you think of this classic red lip thing that you like? I’ll be tagging two of my friends to do a NIVEA makeup challenge as well – with a different box and makeup peg to work with! I choose you, Raiza and Erika! Show me what you’ve got, guys.
