Drama Actress, Host, Model
Being recently named 2nd Sexiest Woman in the Philippines, you would expect an overpowering air of self-assurance from the woman who’s entitled to feel such. But when Andrea Torres walked in the studio that afternoon, there was no gush of wind that emanated such air. Instead, her bare-faced beauty commanded attention in the most modest way. She was cool and collected, simply waiting her turn on the makeup chair and …not being constantly on her iPhone! She talked to those around her instead, listened to their daily chika and exchanged stories with them. A fun fact: if I went to the same university with my first featured beauty, Janine — this time, I learned that Andrea and I sang the same alma mater song in high school (briefly as she left a year after to enter show business).
“Sobrang hilig ko sa makeup, bata pa lang ako!”
What are three items you won’t leave your house without? First, I can not leave my house without my wet wipes! I use it everywhere. That and powder as well as lip and cheek tint. (*Same here, Andrea! Since becoming a mom, I realized the power of wet wipes too! That even if Selene weren’t with me, I’d still take her wet wipes along because it’s just so handy and multi-purpose.)
Share your off-duty no-taping work look. I put powder, then lip and cheek tint, then lip balm. I curl my lashes and put on mascara. That’s it. How about your brows? I only do brow makeup when I have tapings or shoots but on a daily basis, I don’t really fill it in anymore. I’m tamad with brows!
Are you a pink or a red lipstick girl? Usually, I go for pink BUT it also depends on my outfit. I like experimenting with my look so I’m open to wearing other shades as well. So how does that work? What outfits do you usually pair with the different shades? For pink lipstick, I usually pair it with a nice, casual dress. For red lipstick, I pair it with a dominantly black or white outfit.
Which kinds of reds are you drawn to most? Brights or darker reds? Hmmm… I can’t really choose, to be honest. I wear both – brights and darks – like what you’re wearing now actually! (*I was wearing Lipstick Queen in Entourage)
What’s your signature scent? I have two – an Hermes one that comes in a round bottle, I forgot the name (*probably Elixir des Merveilles) and Coco Mademoiselle. Coco Mademoiselle is the right mix of citrus and floral for me.
How do you remove all the gunk on your face at the end of the day? I like using cleansing oil the most. It removes the stubborn glue makeup artists use to put on falsies which I find so hard to completely cleanse.
Do you double cleanse? Yes, I do. I don’t like that oily feeling left on the skin after using oil cleansers so I always make sure to wash my face with a cleanser afterwards.
What’s your skin type? Combination. I have an oily t-zone but have normal skin on the rest of my face. I don’t really get dry skin, very rarely, only when I’m in cold places which my skin is not used to.
What’s your skincare routine then? I always, always make sure to remove my makeup completely at the end of the day, in which I use a cleansing oil for. Then, I wash my face with a gentle cleanser as I mentioned above. After, I put on my trusty moisturizer. Moisturizer is the only skincare product I religiously use and never get lazy to put.
Any beauty advice? You really have to make time to take care of yourself – whether it’s going to spas for massages, or alloting extra time in the shower to scrub your skin, going to the gym to work or when you’re eating right – because it really shows in your skin. There’s this “glow” to it you can’t pinpoint. Do you exercise/work out? Yes, I do, everyday! I really make time for it.
I also believe in the power of moisturizer. Moisturizer and sunblock. I think sunblock is the must-have item of every woman! Put on lotion every night, moisturize your feet, too. I think the feet is one of the least taken care of parts of our body. I’m quite old school, at night, I put on lotion on my feet and wear socks afterwards.
What’s in her bag
FHM #1 Most Organized Woman
Andrea’s bag may put any OC woman’s bag to shame. As she opened her Balenciaga, I was impressed. Unlike most bags (*ehem*mine*ehem) that seem like a black hole of receipts, loose change and everything rolled into one pit, Andrea’s bag is the exact opposite. She has at least two bag organizers in there that separate the whole area into different sections – makeup, hair, gadgets, note-taking things, medicines, safety kit items (“Sorry, nanay ba masyado?” she says when she took out her medicines, band-aids, wet wipes, etc.). We didn’t put out all her items because it may not have fit in the wood plank!! Also, her bag reveals that her favorite color may or may not be pink. It could also be yellow, you guys. But yes, I’m surprised at the sheer amount of bag essentials she can fit in her Balenciaga. So yes, Andrea admits, the top three items she can’t leave your house without was a sham of a question from me – the right number is around 15 items.
Andrea is part of an international film called “Blood in Dispute” which will be released on the first week of August in Cambodia. Watch out for its release as a mini-series here in the Philippines by September. You can also catch her every Sunday at noon on Sunday All Stars in GMA 7.
