Acne Season

Seriously, this weird weather is getting crazier by the minute. In the morning, it’s sizzling sisig kind of heat, in the afternoon, the rain comes a floodin’. One of the bad things about the extreme heat is the breakouts that ensue – be it on the face or on the body. It’s because this intense heat causes excessive sweating which then leads to germs and bacteria being trapped and clogged in our pores. These bacteria are the ones causing the acne and the breakouts!
Thankfully, I haven’t had any kind of breakouts on my face because of the strict skincare regimen I’ve been following since I’ve been having sleepless nights for the past month. But boy oh boy, the damage is manifested on my back. BACNE. There, I said it. Ugh, I hate that word. It sounds so ugly – so fitting for what it means. I’ve tried using acne treatments for it but it just got so expensive because a tiny tube meant for your face only lasts one week tops when used for the back. Thankfully, a more affordable option has hit the market!

Safeguard Derma Sense
For Acne-Prone and Sensitive Skin
The new dermatologically-tested Safeguard Derma Sense Acne-Prone range couldn’t have launched at a better time – with this crazy summer heat and the acne army it brings along with it. It has antibacterial ingredients that target the germs that cause the acne. As I mentioned, it is dermatologically tested to reduce mild to moderate acne by cleaning not just the skin surface but neutralizing acne-causing germs deep down in the pores as well.
Since I’ve moderate bacne (ugh, that word!), I make sure to use this twice daily – during my morning shower and nightly shower. I pour a generous amount of body wash on my loofah and scrub my back with it in a circular motion. I like that it doesn’t leave my skin feeling extremely tight and dry afterwards, unlike other bar soaps or body washes.
The range comes in two variants, for Acne-Prone Skin and for Sensitive Skin and is available in liquid cleanser form, in soap bar and in body wash. I’ve been using the soap bar and body wash for one week now and I’m excited to share the results by the time I hit the two-three week mark so if you’re interested to see results, watch this space! I’ll be updating you with my acne battle plan and see if the range has tremendously reduced my bacne.

For those who plan to use this on their face, I suggest on doing a patch test first on a part of your face (preferably with acne) so you can check if you do or don’t have negative reactions to the soap. If you have sensitive skin, the anti-bacterial properties could be too strong for you. If you get dry skin, it’s normal – as I think most anti-bacterial ingredients are drying so make sure to follow up with a moisturizer to prevent further breakouts.
Let me know if you’re suffering from any kind of acne as well and what you’ve done to treat them. If you’re out of options, it’s definitely the best time to try the new Safeguard Derma Sense range out.

I should get to my tube of Sensitive Skin. I’ve been hearing nothing but good stuff about these products… Looking forward to confirming the great texture.

I think this would be good for that time-of-the-month spotty face. 🙂

My brothers suffer with this problem often and the Paula’s Choice range offers products like this too. It worked for them but I’m wondering if this would be a more affordable option. :O
