Colourpop

…my first take on the famous lippie stix!
It now takes me a few good months before I jump into the latest makeup crazes, can you believe? I used to be one of those who’d vigilantly watch out for the first reviews of the product and then rush on over to my trusted online seller to pre-order and make sure I get one as soon as frikkin’ possible. Case in point, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, the Chanel Cream Blushes (I think I was one of the first ones globally to review this as I sourced mine from a seller who got her samples during the worldwide pre-launch! Talk about neurotic).
I’ve now tamed down from such addic-, erm, impulsiveness. I guess it comes with the experience of having amassed a collection that’s quite excessive for one person with just one face. While I’d love to own the latest and the greatest, I have this persistent voice at the back of my head to use up or at least let go of some makeup items in my stash first before I start filling it up again. And that I did! I actually did some recent destashing online (after x years man!!) and as soon as I made my first sale, I texted my trusted online retailer Death by Lipstick if she had the Colourpop Lippie Stix in the shade Lumiere. And she did.

“Lippie Stix”

Cutesy (almost cringe-worthy) name but let’s look past that. The matte formulation applies smoothly with minimal drag and hugs the lips like a true matte does. It feels a tiny bit creamy when swiped on but that slight creaminess dissipates once it fully sets. I experienced some bleeding on both shades so I think they should definitely be worn with lipliners if you want perfect lips. Also, while it doesn’t fade easily (longevity is at 5 hours), the edges do soften a bit as the day progresses. Compared to the recent L’Oreal Moist Mattes I’ve reviewed, these feel ‘heavier’ on the lips. They also don’t emphasize lip lines as the L’oreal ones do. But on both formulas, when you have dry patches to begin with, they will emphasize them more.

Final Thoughts
While I don’t feel that these are WHOA OMG HG-worthy~, they are definitely good matte lipsticks that come at an affordable price tag so you can hoard as many shades as you want. One of the things I love about the Lippie Stix is their shade selection – mind-boggling to choose from! They event have a mint green (Charm) and a true lavender (Brills) in their range. They also have three formulations – satin, matte and glossy.
What’s your pick?
Which shades do you have? If you haven’t tried them yet, which are you eyeing?
I got my Colourpop Lippie Stix from Death by Lipstick.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE COLOURPOP! They are so cheap but super duper nice. Keep them away from Baby Selene though, my son thought they were his Crayola Twistables and used them to “color” his artwork 🙁

Ahhh I hope Colourpop will soon start shipping abroad! I’ve read so many great reviews about their stuff. I love both shades on you, but especially Bossy! Lumiere is the kind of shade that will pull really mauve on me. It kinda reminds me of TF Casablanca!

I have 3 stix and a couple of pencils (as well as eyeshadows, a blush and highlighter) and am really enjoying them all! I have the pencil version of Lumiere and absolutely love it. It’s such a great, wearable shade but a bit darker which I love for the cooler weather here at the moment!

I have Lumiere and Ellarie and absolutely love both colors on me! I admit though they are quite heavy on the lips but my concern is more leading towards longevity coz it doesn’t stay that long for me. But other than that they’re super cheap buys that there’s always room for trial and error! I actually also really love the icing smell of it.

I have Brink, Frida, and Blood (exactly the same color as MAC Diva). I might not get more because the scent bothers me. 🙁

I havent tried any but I am looking into their highlighter haha, looks so pretty in the pan.

Got Brink, Tootsi, and Lumiere. Have to agree that these feel heavier than the usual matte lipstick.

When computed I think they’re roughly the same price as a MAC lipstick which is something to think about, but it’s great to try the more unusual colors!

Their shade selection is incredible and they do sound like quite nice lipsticks! I’ve been wanting to make an order for awhile now, but trying to buy them online is so overwhelming. I definitely need to write down the names of the ones I want based on swatches and then head in there and not look at anything else. x

I’m dying to get my hands on colourpop! It’s so tough to narrow down though! Lumiere is definitely on my list though, it’s a perfect pinky nude!

Lumiere is gorgeous and looks so close to Mehr! I agree with your sentiments on the name – definitely cutesy bordering cringe-y haha!

Lumiere is on my wishlist! It looks so lovely on you. But yeah, the formula emphasizes dry patches like no other, even the satins. I was gifted LBB and while the color is so gorgeous, every time I wear it I can see a lot of flakes on my lips.

I wanted one called Corset. The color was like a satin/matte MUFE lipstick I was lusting after for so long, but that Lippie Stix collection turned out to be hyper glossy. Sayang.

The shade Lumiere suits you well. I want to try the shades ‘frida’ and ‘fancy’ =)

  18. June 23, 2015 / 9:48 pm

I like ’em! Both look lovely on you.Not every product can be HG material, right? 🙂 But these look close enough.

  19. June 27, 2015 / 12:13 pm

Lumiere is my kind of shade. Actually all the shades in that row I would wear. I don’t think we get Coloupop in Australia yet, but I’m sure somewhere online delivers. Not that I need any more lip products.

Omg you’re so right – too many to choose from! I think I’m most drawn to Button, Texedo, Leather, and Confetti!

  21. July 6, 2015 / 11:03 am

I love Lumiere on you, but the bleeding issue doesn’t sound super groovy. I’m a big fan of ColourPop’s eyeshadows and blushes – they are squishy, pigmented fabulousness and they last on my oily lids all day without primer. They’re really special! I’ve never tried a Lippie Stix though.

These swatches look incredible! I’m loving Yasmin, Fancy and Julep! They look so pretty and affordable! 🙂
