THE BODY SHOP
19th Anniversary Sale
First things first, did you know The Body Shop originated from the UK? I didn’t! I’ve always had in the back of my mind that it was a US brand or maybe French since it’s owned by L’Oreal. What I love about them is their commitment to cruelty-free products – they are against any kind of animal testing. They even closed all their branches in Chinese duty frees since selling there means that Chinese authorities can randomly test any of their products on animals. So yes, they pulled out of China completely. That is how committed the brand is to their cruelty-free advocacy.
Last May 6, The Body Shop officially launched their yearly Anniversary Sale that slashes up to 40% off of certain products – like their huge tubs of the Olive Body Butter and Shower Gel – which I absolutely love. Been using this since my mom introduced it to me during my High School days (when I didn’t care for lotions but absolutely fell in love with the olive scent). During the mini-shopping-walwal-spree last Wednesday, I bought a few of my favorites and tried a few new things since I’ve already run out of facial wash and daytime moisturizer.

Me: “Gurl, which facial wash should I try?” Shen: “Gurrrl, try the Tea Tree line – it’s best for blemished skin.” Blogger-turned-SA-for-the-day.

They have gift sets which make for perfect last-minute Mothers Day presents!

Ultimately curious about the Camomile Cleansing Butter but I’m too lazy to use a washcloth every time I take my makeup off using it. Have heard and seen great reviews on it, though!

The line I’m most intrigued in – I got two items from this range! I also wanted to get the facial mist because.. MIST & HOT WEATHER.

The Peppermint Foot range is one of the first few products of the brand. Founders Gordon and Anita Roddick developed the Peppermint Foot Lotion during the London Marathon after runners complained about their sore feet.

My Picks
Olive Shower Gel. My favorite all-time scent. Still have a few tubs of the Body Butter so I skipped those. I went for the huge variant of this because from Php1,200+, it’s been slashed down to Php600+. I like that despite being made of olive oil, it doesn’t leave any oily film on top of the skin when rinsed off.
Tea Tree Face Mask. I haven’t tried tea tree for acne but I chose this to use for when I’ve sudden breakouts that need treating asap. I’ve yet to see if tea tree works well on my skin, though. Crossing my fingers it does.
Vitamin E Gentle Facial Wash. My current facial wash is nearing its end so I really needed this. I was choosing between the Tea Tree foaming wash, the Seaweed wash and this. I ultimately chose this because I’m afraid the tea tree will be too harsh on my face. I went with this because it’s a cream while the Seaweed one comes in gel texture.
Vitamin E Aqua Sorbet. Not gonna lie – the frosted glass packaging and the word ‘sorbet’ swayed me to get this one. I tried it on the back of my hand and I felt an instant cooling sensation. SOLD! I’ll be using this as my daytime moisturizer as it also absorbs quickly without grease. They also suggested to pop this in the fridge for maximum cooling satisfaction when you put it on.
Fijian Water Lotus Body Lotion. Yet another favorite because it’s a body lotion that feels cooling on the skin while it dries. Sounds counter-intuitive but when I feel hot and sticky, I apply a thin layer of this on and I instantly feel refreshed. The scent isn’t overpowering as well – just a light aquamarine fragrance that smells like you just got out of the shower but with a dash of perfume.
Fiji Green Tea Body Sorbet. The fastest absorbing non-lotiony lotion is the brand’s Body Sorbet. It feels almost gel-like and instantly dries once blended onto the skin. I alternate between this and the Fijian Water Lotus as my daytime lotion. I go with the Fijian Lotion though if I’ve particularly drier skin that day.
Those are a few of my favorite body care items from The Body Shop! What are yours?

Love your picks, I haven’t tried many products from the Body Shop to be honest but the sorbets sounds great (yes, partially due to their name, lol). I’d like to try their skincare products too!

The Camomile Cleansing Oil!! I love it more than Shu Uemura’s! I love their body butter but my skin didn’t react to the fragrances well. Ohwell. My skin’s just too sensitive. I will definitely be stocking up on the cleansing oil and maybe grab a few masks. Been really into them lately.

I am now curious with the Olive line! Might check it out. Also, I’ve been using the Tea tree Cream cleanser for months (or year) maybe, now on my 2nd tube, and it really works well when I have rough and blemished skin. I don’t use it everyday but everytime I do, my skin feels cool afterwards and not dry. 🙂 I have another backup pa. Hehe.

The Camomile line is really good! I have the dual phase one and it removes waterproof makeup really fast!

The vitamin e range looks lovely, describing something as sorbet would lure me in too. I have tried the chamomile cleansing butter and while it’s nice it’s not something I think I’ll repurchase xx

I’m intrigued by the Aqua Sorbet! How much does it cost and til when is the sale?

One of the very first products in my makeup kit was their lip and cheek stain! And my grade school scent was White Musk :3 and when I didn’t really know anything about concealers (just that it covers pimples) back in the day, I used to grab the tea tree concealer stick!

I love the Body Shop! I love their body butters and facial washes the most. I bought the Camomile butter, cleansing oil and eyemakeup remover but javent used the first two yet. Their Seaweed line didn’t agree with my skin but I’m keen to try the Vitamin E range.

I’ve tried their Tea Tree scrub and Seaweed Toner. I wanna try the Vitamin E and C line next! 🙂
