the SM Watsons Beauty Box
This pink box here is probably one of the biggest boxes I’ve ever had the pleasure of receiving from the courier. I thought to myself, “Wow, Watsons packed up a whole counter in there!“. While it’s my first time to receive this, I’ve seen other versions of this Watsons Beauty Box in the interwebz before – I think there were hair and bath versions among others. This time, the team at Watsons curated a ‘skincare’ box filled (and I mean overflowing!) with goodies ranging from bestsellers to new additions. Take note: all these products are exclusive to Watsons! Because I was quite overwhelmed with the selection of products here, I’ve decided to whittle down the number of items I’ll be trying asap to just five.
Quick FX
Pimple Eraser. The ingredients of this product spoke to me like shoes do to Carrie Bradshaw. Glycolic acid, Salicylic acid, Vitamin C, Niacinamide and Zinc Oxide. First two are exfoliants, third and fourth are brightening ingredients and last is a sunscreen ingredient. I may just slather this all over my face should I need a skin boost because those 5 actives are very potent skincare ingredients. However, since it’s a pimple eraser, it may contain a slightly higher percentage of actives that may be too much for the whole face. My advice for spot treatments such as this – always do a patch test before applying generously on any pimple.
Tinted Moisturizer. The NARS Tinted Moisturizer is hands down my favorite TM to date. However, since I don’t think I’ve ever come across a drugstore brand tinted moisturizer before, I’m ecstatic to try this one. I like that Quick FX displays their active ingredients in front of their packaging. For this Tinted Moisturizer, actives are Glutathione (brightening), Shea Butter (moisturizer) and Zinc Oxide (sunscreen).
Collagen Eye Zone Mask. I don’t have high hopes for the anti-aging effects because it’s not that I have major concerns regarding eye wrinkles at the moment. I’m purely in on this for its eye puffiness reducing properties. You know what I love about masks? They give instant gratification – results are palpable as soon as you take that piece of sheet off. But they’re not long-lasting which is why masking is usually a weekly (or daily for those who are addicted to it) thing.
Fresh Peeling Gel. Okay, this one got me at peel. The Purederm Fresh Peeling gel contains applelemon, and orange extracts which deeply clean pores and gently exfoliate skin for an instant ‘I just got a facial’ look. While most masks hydrate, plump up and deeply moisturize the skin – peeling gels act as exfoliants to remove the dead skin cells sitting atop your skin. I used to do glycolic peels with my derma before but since I stopped going, I’ve been peel-less for almost a year now. We’ll see how this gentle at-home peel works.
Purederm 3D Facial Masks. What in the world are 3D facial masks?! I guess I’ll found out soon enough! I don’t want to spoil the self-discovery process by googling it so I’ll just have to wait and see until I crack open one of these. I wasn’t so sold on the snail essence trend so I never really gave it a chance, but since I’ve got my hands on these Purederm samples – I’ll be hitting two birds with one stone. I’ll learn what 3D facial masks are and if snail essence does anything for my skin.
Bonus ‘Cos I’m Curious
One item that got me wide-eyed was this BodyXpert Shape Firming Lotion that supposedly helps tone your body using… chili! CHILI, you guys. So I googled how chili pepper works in skincare and I found that pepper extract increases blood flow and absorption at the skin’s surface so ingredients penetrate immediately. Will I try it? We’ll see. Do I have high hopes? Not so much but I guess it won’t hurt to try! I’ve also already tried the Purederm Nose Pore strips thanks to the curiosity of my husband. It definitely sticks and pulls out the nasties (although it can’t really eliminate everything, especially the deep blackheads).
How about you – did anything from this huge box catch your attention? Let me know below and I might just send it over your way so you could try it!

I always see those Quick FX pouches but never really looked at what what they were. Now I know that they’re face products. Very interesting. Those caught my eye when you pisted this box on your Snapchat. I’ve tried the Purederm eye patches and they’re pretty great! I leave them on for about 10-15 minutes and when I remove them, my undereye feels very refreshed and looks very bright. The effects aren’t very long lasting though. Only for about an hour. And I keep them in the fridge for that extra refreshing feeling! Watson’s pore strips are hands down the best ones!!

Agh! I bought the first Beauty Box from SM and it’s super sulit even though it’s a bit pricier than your usual beauty box. Do they sell this one?

So many sachets! I want to see how the tinted moisturizer will do. Just a little nervous that it might be a one-shade-fits-all that ends up as one-shade-fit-less-than-1%-of-the-population kind of thing.
