White A Minute

“White Do You Think You’re Doing, gurl?”
First OOTD for the year! Can you believe I got my husband to take these photos? Win! The whole thing lasted probably less than 5 minutes because “well, you’re not moving so why would I take more shots?“. I swear, how do style bloggers do it? I tried prancing around but we both end up laughing ‘cos I look like a lunatic and the shots were nowhere near being published on the Internet. Nope. Although I could have been credited as discovering a new yoga pose.
Okay, I’ll stop. I do love an all-white outfit. It makes me look… clean? Like I took a shower and smell quite nice but really, it’s just dry shampoo and dousing myself with half a bottle of perfume. Although wearing all white means I can’t eat siomai (pork dumplings) like how I usually do because I will get soy sauce all over my shirt or shorts no matter how carefully I try not to. Oh and I also tried the not-entirely-tucked technique with my shirt but it turned out… kinda sloppy. It looked as if I didn’t know what to do with my shirt! Hah! Oh well!

The Wishlist

In collaboration with Avenue 32*
Avenue 32* caters to those who value quality over price so most brands are high-end a.k.a way above the budget I usually spend on any piece of clothing. That doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate ridiculously expensive clothes from afar (like very remote Castaway far) — the ultra-luxe fabrics, the quality worksmanship and the intricate details that go into each piece. Except of course if it’s a $90 wifebeater tank top which could probably be able to cook pancakes as well, right?
I realized most items I came close to actually considering on buying are from the brand, 3.1 Phillip Lim. The pieces are classic and timeless but aren’t boring nor will make you feel like you just threw away money (even if you just did, really). I also included one from Jill Stuart because just look at that beautiful cutout design. All photos are linked to their pages on Avenue 32 with no affiliate links.

I only have three designer bags I really, really like and would spend on if money weren’t an issue and I weren’t so clumsy with bags a.k.a spilling soy sauce or Selene’s milk all over them. One of them is the Pashli.

Do you see anything that catches your fancy? What do you think of buying designer clothes? Would love to hear your opinions on the matter!

I personally don’t buy designer clothes. Bags and shoes? Absolutely. I’ve rediscovered my Givenchy Boston and fell in love all over again. I just hate how it gets dirty. 🙁 I think that brands don’t matter. But if you feel more comfortable and confident in designer brands and you can afford it, then go for it! Wear what represents you. Be it the most expensive Chanel dress or a thrift store find. 🙂

I’m not very schooled on designer bags, I don’t even know what Givenchy Boston looks like! I’m good this way though – if I start obsessing, I might fall into the rabbithole :)) But I agree with your thoughts, babe – wear what represents you! Or even if it doesn’t exactly but if it makes you feel happy/good about yourself, go for it 🙂

I love the way you write Shari, so real with your stylin’ and shooting struggles – it’s real! I love wearing white, super chic and I love your Philip Lim picks.

Aw thanks Hanh! Appreciate the comment. The struggle is definitely REAL when it comes to OOTDs :)) I wish I could effortlessly do it but it’s a lot of work – the posing!? Good Lord!

I am scared of all white! You’re brave! hahaha! Naman. White A Minute!!! Your one-liners, y’know I really love them! Kudos to your hubby! I don’t own any designer bags and clothes! Just too much! IDK haha! TC, Shari!

White a minute, kapeng mainit! Haha. Thanks for appreciating my corny one liners, Laarni!!! GURL ANG SAYA KO sa comment na yan :)) I don’t own a single piece of designer bag either. I’d like it to stay that way ’til I’ve money to just throw away – but even then, I’d still think twice buying a PHP100,000 bag.

I would never be able to rock an entire white outfit like you do. You look absolutely stunning and a big round of applause for your husband. He did a very good job, hihi!

    X Alice

Thank you Alice and yes, snaps for my patient husband too! :))

I could never pull off Phillip Lim’s shorts and skirt. At that length, I would look like a cut-off longganisa 😮

    • January 31, 2015 / 5:49 pm

Longganisang walang taba! Girl, kahit gustuhin mo, you’ll never look like a longganisa! Hellooo, yung physique ng model wearing it is same as yours so I doubt you won’t be able to pull it off :)) But I get your point, it’s not the most flattering design for most! Try ko nga gawin sa white shirt and white shorts ko yan using a hole puncher :))

Love the all white look- so fresh and pretty! Great bag too 🙂

      Thanks Jen!

I love this, you look so so nice! I don’t like wearing white because I would most definitely drop something on it within five minutes of putting it on, heh. Also, great puns 😉

    • January 31, 2015 / 5:51 pm

Sam here Sam! I will ruin an all-white no matter what that’s why I choose to only do this when I know I”m not eating Chinese food or anything messy :))

    • January 31, 2015 / 5:51 pm

      Thanks Oreleona!

I love and loathe an all white look, because I’m with you about the whole siomai thing. I don’t think I could take an all-white look to dim sum! haha 🙂

    • January 31, 2015 / 5:51 pm

Definitely no dimsum for all-whiter days! :))

i got the mini pashli over xmas 🙂 pretty happy about that.
ok NOT related to this post at all BUT i had a dream, where people were chasing me in manila and i literally ran into you. and then you tried to get me away from the ‘bad guys’. except you were like working and living in some dingy restaurant and i felt bad while wondering where your house was. but you WERE REALLY NICE IN PERSON lol. and also, you were holding onto your camera and portable hard drive (yes,,,while working in a restaurant..) when we were running away so we had to put it in my purse, except when i flew home, i realized they were still in my bag and i had no way of getting them back to you. SO WEIRD. thanks for invading my dream.

    • January 31, 2015 / 5:53 pm

      BEST COMMENT OF 2015 :))
Aww Jenn!! I’m so glad I infiltrated your dreams even if it may have been quite accurate that I feel you know too much about me already. Working AND living in a dingy restaurant? Possibly 😉 But holding on to my camera and hard drive while running away from bad guys? May have happened quite a few times 😉 HAHAHA!! What a fun (yet scary!!) dream. Glad I was there with you to protect you! PS – pls take care of my camera and hard drive.:))

And wowwww, jealous of your mini pashli!!!! 🙂 Love that we have the same taste in bags!

      • January 31, 2015 / 9:46 pm

HAHAH woah woah *raises palms in defense* the year is still one month young. let’s not go setting the bar too low 😛

i will do my best to return said camera and hard drive to you. expect it via magic carpet in about three months 😛
