Shoppin’ the Stash
Hi everyone, still testing out areas in the house — as well as certain times of the day — for blog photos! I feel that this set is better than the last, same-ish area but different time (around 4:30pm compared to 1pm). Umm, why am I even sharing this. I’m sorry you guys, my mind’s been filled with non-beauty things, I seemed to have lost touch on how to write a beauty blog. Heh.
That said, I haven’t had the luxury of time to sit down and whip up full reviews on products. I have a few new favorites I’ve been meaning to write about, but I’d need at least a good hour to decently lay down my thoughts on those. Maybe after one more week, I’ll be able to get back on my blogging horse and ride the winds again.
I also want to share how I’ve been less excited about new collections coming out. Partly because I’ve been a bit “away” from beauty blogs for a few weeks (or months?) now. I still check out every so often a few of my favorite beauty reads but those are more of the personal beauty blogs vs. the professional beauty blogs (Temptalia & the like).
My general sentiment on makeup? It’s been on the down low since I finished my makeup ban at the start of this year. I realized how many small countries I can finish doing faces on (not to mention feed, oh lawrd ☹) when I was packing for this move. One big box wasn’t enough to place everything that I had a harder time packing them than any other set of items. I seriously thought — I haz officially gone kray-fish.
Makeup Play Extended
I know FOTDs feel like they’re just filler posts for some (or most) but personally, I feel that this comprises a huge part of my blog because well, it’s why I started this space after all — to share those makeup misadventures. To constantly experiment with what I have and reporting on the progress (or erm, otherwise) vs. developing a consumerist attitude and thinking to myself “Now WTF do I do with all this makeup….”
So, I guess what I’m saying is… I think I’ll start incorporating other non-beauty posts soon especially since I don’t want to pressure myself to keep up with just beauty when my interests are starting to vary. Maybe home slash interior, a bit more fashion and God knows what else. There. Just a heads up, you guys! Nothing concrete yet though, I’m just thinking out loud here.
On with today’s FOTD
Guerlain Turandot Eyeshadow Quad (review here). Woops I just realized, this and the next one are limited edition items not available anywhere anymore. Anyway, I like that this palette gives me an option to deviate from my predictable neutral look without looking too unnatural, you know what I mean? The gold isn’t bam super gold but rather a soft gold great for a subtle pop. While the redwood and reddened plum shades beautifully complement each other for a wearable non-neutral look.
Chanel Accent Blush (review here). Ahh, a beautiful rose bronze blush I’m glad I picked up from the 2013 Holiday Collection. I like it for when I wear bold eyes or lips as they don’t pull any focus on the cheeks, serving just to frame them and finish off the look. It works great as a subtle contour, too!
Guerlain Orgeuil (review here). A matte liquid lipstick in a bloody red shade I’d love to wear everyday if I could. It looks less intense in the photos due to the lighting, though.
For the rest of my face, I used the Ellana Intensive Blend Loose Mineral Foundation* in the shade Chai Tea Latte. For the brows, just the Majolica Majorca Brow Customize pencil. I also whipped out my MAC Brow Set in Girl Boy to compare with my at-the-moment fave eyebrow mascara Maybelline Fashion Brow and well… I’ve decided I’ll be destashing this MAC one soon as I really like the wand of the Maybelline one more. And because… just look at my brows, you guys. That is how not to put on brow mascara.
Also, to add matte highlights (yes, I’m obsessed with higlighting!) on top of my cheekbones, I used the Ellana Blush Duo in Light Roast and Butter Rum Coffee* — one of my favorite Ellana products! Oh and I also used the Dolly Wink Liquid Liner* which I find great in really thin-lining the eyes. For the lower lashline, I used my Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof (in a shade I forgot!) which is very subtle that you won’t even notice it had I not divulged I even had it on.
Last Set of Words, Promise!
Ummm, so this post turned out longer than I expected. To be fair, it took me two days to finish this entry HAH! I interspersed it with cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as watching cartoons with Selene while doing the laundry and unpacking more stuff in between. Such is the life of a full-time mom slash part-time blogger.
I can’t believe I just said I’ll be adding more content variety when it took me two days to finish this one. LOL! No promises though, guys.
Anyway to bloggers out there, I’m curious… How do you find time to blog amidst the daily hustle and bustle of life? How do you plan posts, photo-taking, writing times… etc etc etc! Need some serious tips here!
