aka Project Use Up Yo Makeup

Just a quick post to share some of the products I reach for more often than any other items in my stash hence — dents, pot smears and powdery mess everywhere, yay! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it makes me feel pleased seeing used (and abused) makeup. Save for a few (either super expensive or hard-to-come-by) products, I always make it my goal to hit pan on everything I buy. I would hate for myself to become a hoarder and just be someone who keeps on buying new things yet afraid to even open or touch them for fear of desecration. Although I’ve had my share of just staring at some palettes, blushes and lipsticks a few minutes (too long) just admiring their beauty before finally deciding to dip my filthy fingers on them. Bobbi Brown Corrector in Peach. Pan porn, pan porn! I’ve had this for a year now and I still go back to it every now and then, especially if my dark circles are making their appearances, red-carpet ready and full-on in their purply glory. It’s creamy but not stiff and waxy (ehem, MAC Studio Finish) so it can be patted on easily. Not much coverage but really does a great job canceling out those pesky bluish/purplish circles. MAC Fluidline Gel Browcreme in Dirty Blonde. I’ve hated a.k.a been really lazy to do any kind of filling in brows before (much preferring looking unkempt *yikes* over spending extra time on shaping them). But upon discovering this product, I now couldn’t stop looking at other people’s bedraggled brows and thinking to myself – they need some major brow-mance. I don’t like calling things HG, but this may just be it for me. I’m so happy MAC brought this back (permanently!) so I can finally stop scrimping on this pot right here. most used makeup products MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre.  A product that changed the way I looked at eyeshadows and eye makeup. Prior to this, I hated the way eye makeup looks on me (which made me skip it altogether before) – and I realized it’s because I have such yellowish lids (not to mention a bit on the oily side!) that hinder the shadows from manifesting their real color and texture. Soft Ochre evens out the lids and mattifies it – so well in fact that any eyeshadow look I do comes out as if it were done professionally by a makeup artist (despite my lack of skills in the subject and/or the lack of pigment in the shadows!). Paint pots are super soft and smooth, almost like butter but dries fast so you can directly apply eyeshadow after just 10 seconds. I’ll forever be repurchasing this! Rouge Bunny Rouge Unforgettable Oriole. I only realized recently just how often I reached for this single shade when I saw one of my NARS blushes’ cover almost completely covered by excess powder of this shadow. Woops. I’ve been loving this for inner third of my lids or inner half (most of the time) because it gives such an eye-opening look without screaming shimmer. Post a look soon. Calvin Klein Ultimate Edge Gel Eyeliner in Black Ice. I received this as a GWP from a Strawberrynet order way back (probably 8-9 months ago) and I’m amazed that it’s still usefully creamy and hasn’t dried out at all. I used this once then and saw nothing special so I kept it at the back of my drawers only to rediscover it now and actually use it everyday. It’s not the blackest of black shade, but in terms of longevity, it stays put for 8 hours before smudging and transferring on the lower lids. Basically, a so-so gel liner. I’d probably recommend just getting the Maybelline one over this (if this is even available still! I didn’t even know Calvin Klein had a makeup line).

      It’s a so-so liner 🙂 Nothing too great about it, tbh! 🙂

I’ve really been dying to try the Bobbi Brown Corrector and the MAC Paint Pot (especially this one that you’ve mentioned because I also have yellowish eyelids). I’ve never heard of the other products, but I’m intrigued by them, especially the MAC Fluidline. Awesome post! xx

The MAC Paint Pot is awesome – it looks like concealer lang to some but really sets the eyelids for proper eye makeup application! Can’t praise it enough 🙂

Hey Shari, what a nice bunch of everyday basics! I think the only thing I’m hitting pan on is my pot of Bobbi Brown Black Ink. There are eyeshadows I use more often than the others, but not so many are very dented!

    • May 24, 2014 / 2:51 pm

I wanted to hit pot on my Black Ink but it dried out before I could 🙁 So sad. I really liked it! 🙁

oh man. i haven’t hit pan on anything LOL. and the way my collection is growing is sort of crazy so i defs need to hunker down and starting using the same stuff repeatedly.

I am cheering for you, Jenn! 🙂 You can do it gurlfriend 😉

  4. May 23, 2014 / 7:07 pm

Hahah! Super awesome! I’ve used up an entire maybelline cream shadow and finish up compact powder refills every 2 months because I LOVE powder…! I haven’t use gel liner in so long, I’m interested in getting back!

    • May 24, 2014 / 2:52 pm

WOW!!! I wish to hit pan on a base product too! I’ve gone through a MAC Blot Powder already though – which reminds me I haven’t posted that one 🙂 I like gel liners because they let me be a little imprecise, as compared to liquid liner that leaves little to no room for my shaky hands 🙁

oh yes, RBR e/s are one of the best out there, I love them as well. It’s nice to see a post with used makeup haha. this year I am going to hit pan on quite some products, even a lipstick. I recently got the chance to test those new CK lippies and there was one shade that called my name and lasted like forever on my lips

    • May 24, 2014 / 2:54 pm

I wish I could get me some more RBR shades but the hassle of ordering from Beautyhabit and RBR website (to be shipped here to the Philippines) is a major deterrent. : I only get them from Luxola.com but they don’t stock too many shades 🙁

CK lipsticks?! I am on the hunt for reviews in 3..2..1.. bye! LOL

Now I really want to get my hands on Soft Ochre. I remember swatching it when we were together sa Rustan’s. Pfft. Wala kasi ako panlibre ng ice cream sa inyo nun e kaya di ko binili hahaha

    • May 24, 2014 / 3:46 am

Ok sige, ako rin. Bibilihin ko to.

      • May 24, 2014 / 2:57 pm

OMGOSH GUYS — happy to enable here! Haha kidding.
Try it sa counter before buying so you can gauge if you like it! Have the SAs apply eyeshadow rin, hehe. The other one (a shade darker) is Painterly pero I find myself reaching for Soft Ochre (a lot) more often.

        • May 25, 2014 / 7:34 pm

Guys di na applicable sakin yang libre meryenda. Ang dami ko nang binili lately. At wala akong no-buy ngayon. I quit. Parang mas madami akong nabibili kapag may no-buy.

    • May 24, 2014 / 2:57 pm

Ipon ka na pang-Jollibee! Hati daw kayo ni @Raebreak:disqus 😉

      • May 24, 2014 / 4:12 pm

I just saw the MAC Gel Creme being stocked and rushed on over here to let you know–but you already knew 😉

    • May 24, 2014 / 2:57 pm

Thanks, love!!! I’m rushing over to MAC soon to see if they’ve stocked them over here already 🙂

Have you tried the Anastasia Dipbrows? Kinda on the middle with this MAC Fluidline Gel and the ABH Dipbrows. 🙂

    • May 24, 2014 / 2:58 pm

Not yet, I want to actually but not sure which shade is equivalent to MAC’s Dirty Blonde. Would you know? 🙂

        May 24, 2014 / 3:12 pm

I think it doesn’t have a perfect match with the Anastasia Dipbrows eh. The Blonde is too light when compared to your MAC Dirty Blonde, and the Auburn naman is too light. 😐 Maybe mix? Haha. 😀

        • May 24, 2014 / 3:21 pm

Ang gastos, gurl! I might just stick to Dirty Blonde muna. Although I can go for Blonde now, I think, kasi my hair’s kinda light na. Hmmm! Thanks for the tip!

I love my Painterly Paint Pot but I wish I’d gotten Soft Ochre. 🙁 Painterly’s just too pink. When I saw that the Brow Gelcremes were permanent I immediately thought of you so I had to tell you!

    • May 26, 2014 / 4:10 pm

I have Painterly too but gave it na lang to my sister cos Soft Ochre’s lighter shade works much better for my lids! 🙂

Thanks for the heads up on the brow cremes, I’m super happy! 🙂 Haha! #babawlang

  10. May 24, 2014 / 9:04 pm

I love this post! Haha, the best sign of well-loved products. Gotta love pan porn! 😉 I have a Bobbi Brown Corrector and haven’t used it in ages- really have to give it another go! xo

    • May 26, 2014 / 4:11 pm

I’ve overlooked my corrector as well for a long time but it’s a real tool for dark circle days! 🙂

  11. May 25, 2014 / 10:49 am

Been thinking of trying out MAC’s Fluidline pero kinakabahan ako lagi kapag pumapasok sa MAC. Baka iba pa ang makita! Haha

    • May 26, 2014 / 4:23 pm

Hahaha – welcome to temptation island! I feel the same when I pass by a store too that sometimes I just walk past :))

  12. May 26, 2014 / 12:02 pm

Yay for Dirty Blonde! Haha kunin ko na nga yun since my Majolica Majorca’s gone na. =) Soft Ochre’s on my wish din! Hay naku MAC, take all my money! Haha

    • May 26, 2014 / 4:24 pm

Not all!! Save some for the new Chanel quads coming soon 😉 HAHA
