Hazy Summer

I’m feeling so much better as compared to the past three days where I can’t even stand up from the bed because I’ve just been freezing my ass off (in this hellish heat!!). I’ve never been more enlivened by a bouquet of fresh flowers than this morning — thanks to my sister who bought them thinking they’d be perfect for blog photos. Thanks for the motivation, gurl! So I whipped out some of my favorite things along with new ones I’ve been testing in the past two weeks. A paint job was also in order because I’ve had Taboo for days (umm or weeks) longer than I should. All this in between a hyperactive, antsy toddler impatiently waiting for me to carry her and take her outside to see the dogs. Therefore, uneven liquid liner and smeared mascara I didn’t have time to clean.  orchidhaze3 Tom Ford Orchid Haze is one of those palettes I reach for when I want to look pretty for the day without having too strong a statement eye. It can be subtle, but it can also be dramatic (case in point, my ultimate girl crush Karima sporting it). It’s quite apparent from the pans how much I’ve utilized this palette and how I really truly love it. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion is still meh~. It’s supposed to be a light peach but for some reason it darkens on my skin and then in a few hours becomes undetectable. I’ve tried using a clean brush to apply it (because brush residue messes with blush colors) but it still appears a darker hue. Really on the verge of tossing it in the upcoming blog sale. By Terry Touche Veloutee is a highlighting pen, much like the more famous YSL Touche Eclat. But By Terry’s texture is so silky smooth (almost siliconey which I usually dislike except for this one) that it makes the application process very enjoyable (haha sounds like bullshit but diz iz true!). It has better coverage than the Touche Eclat so on good days, I can use this as my sole concealer + higlighter at the same time. Full review soon! Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Mood Light is a wonder powder. It’s the only setting powder in the range that I can attest to for its blurring feature. Somehow it manages to fake good skin even at the peak of my breakouts (with concealer below it of course). I have to be mindful of my application though as it tends to darken my face in a pinkish/lavenderish way. Dior Nail Polish in Spring Ball. I’m in a love-hate sitch with Dior polishes. I love that I can coat the nail with one stroke thanks to its wide brush, but I hate the thick consistency that somehow makes it goopy when I go for two coats. Maybe their polishes are one-coaters and I’m just too insistent. But so far, I still like Chanel’s (and YSL’s) polishes over Dior’s. The color though is a beauty – a gorge peachy pink shimmer.

Hey Shari, Orchid Haze looks so pretty on you! My bottle of Spring Ball is basically halfway through. I think you’re right. The consistency of that batch is a bit thicker. Have you tried other Dior Vernis tho? I don’t think it’s a common problem!

Ahhh, I wanna try the By Terry version! She was the original formulator of Touche Eclat, diba? Wanna see how she improved the formula 😀

Yes! I’m not the only one girl-crushing on Karima! Haha. I am enjoying her videos too much.

Can’t wait to read your review on the Touche Veloutee. It’s somewhere on my wishlist. 🙂

You’re selling Mood Light to me hard, though I’m still swayed more by Diffused Light. I’m not preparing to spend another $60+ to further investigate though :p I rarely wear colour with my eyeshadows but if I do, it definitely needs to be purple – so Orchid Haze looks right up my alley. TF quads are so luxurious. Karima definitely has one photographable face!
