Touching BaseLast month (oh dear Lord, I need to improve on my events updates), I attended a Bobbi Brown event where their globally celebrated foundations were on spotlight for the day. I must have been the most excited attendee in the room as it would only be my first encounter with any Bobbi Brown base. That said, imagine being greeted by a bar decked with – not spirits – but with equally inebriating (for any makeup lover!) bottles of Bobbi’s famous foundations.
The event was graced by Hong Kong-based international makeup artist Felix Nguyen who demonstrated each of the six bases the brand carries. He also shared some few tips and tricks during this casually conducted makeup demo. I really appreciated the demo, to be honest, because we were able to see concretely — and up close at that — the different finishes of the bases on each model.
Immediately greeted by a Bobbi Brown expert to be shade matched. Have to commend Bobbi Brown’s wide range of shades! I think they have the lightest and darkest shades I’ve seen locally. Um, my face is just.. pure joy. Can you smell my excitement from the photo? I was so excited that I might have let out a squeal just knowing I wear the shade, Warm Beige.
Felix Nguyen makes sure to put on the Extra Bright skincare products first to prep the skin before applying makeup. Can I just say that if I had flawless skin the same as the model’s, then I’m good with just applying skincare sans makeup too! I’m using the Bobbi Brown skincare range at the moment and I’m hoping to achieve this dream soon. Ha!
He also shared that he applies concealer before foundation to lessen the need to wear concealer. I like this idea – but on blemish areas like acne scars. For the undereyes, I feel like I still need to stick to applying concealer after foundation especially with my dark undereyes! How about you? Are you foundation over concealer or the other way around?
The Foundation Breakdown+ Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation. My pick among the six bases! If you want skin but better. This is a liquid foundation that’s hydrating and lightweight, yet gives light-medium coverage. Read my full review here. + Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Foundation. For the oily-skinned that want a long-wearing not-so-matte matte liquid base without the heaviness of oil. This has a gel base with glycerin and shea butter to keep skin moisturized. It supposedly lasts for up to 12 hours even in the most humid conditions. + Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation. A cream foundation that has medium-full coverage and dries to a dewy/satin finish without the cake. Supposedly a long-wearing base too same as the liquid form. I was eyeing this initially but my shade ran out fast! + Bobbi Brown Illuminating Finish Powder Compact Foundation. A powder compact that has buildable coverage and can be used wet or dry. It is packed with reflective pigments that optically diffuse skin imperfections. Best for oily-skinned. + Bobbi Brown Extra Bright Compact Foundation. Another powder compact but with skincare benefits as it is part of the Extra Bright skincare range. It also contains higher SPF than the prior powder compact. + Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick. A cream foundation in stick form for portability and ease of use. I was eyeing this one too after seeing how natural and refreshing the model wearing it looked! One of the best-selling Bobbi Brown bases and what I took home that day — Skin Foundation.
Bobbi Brown’s Art Sticks are already available in counter locally, you guys! These are Bobbi’s newest lip products — a lip pencil / lipstick hybrid. Wasn’t able to swatch these during the event because I was easily distracted with the other pretties~.
THIS! I won the event’s Instagram contest and received a bag full of Bobbi goodies worth more than I could splurge on in one day! I’ve been using the Extra Bright Advanced Brightening Serum and cream for almost two weeks now and I can only report astounding results. Will do a post on them after I finish three weeks – month of treatment so I could share maximum results. But so far — I’m itching for a backup already.
Met and had a fun chat with the beautiful local beauty bloggers Shen, Phoebe and Angela.
Thank you Bobbi Brown Philippines for inviting me to this fun and informative event — I’m so happy to finally be able to try one of Bobbi Brown’s famous foundations!
