Base Down LowI’ve been testing out two new base products recently and thought I’d share them here while I haven’t yet penned down my final thoughts. The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer isn’t new at all (though I have yet to review it!) but I’ve been trying it out for acne scars recently as I had the impression it only works for the undereyes. Since my skin is still in breakout mode from the cleansing oil conflict, it was high time I tried it as a spot concealer and guess what guys… it works pretty well! The key is to dab a small amount on the scar/bump/blemish and then to pat it diligently without swiping. Set with powder after and that’s it.
Second Skin, Only BetterI felt more than privileged to be invited to the Bobbi Brown House of Foundation event a few days ago and am beyond ecstatic to receive a bottle of their best-selling Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation to try out. Define excited. I wore it right away the next day and the days that followed (earlier, too!). It’s a light-medium oil-free foundation that has a natural, satin finish. It feels like tinted moisturizer with much better coverage. I like that it evens out my skintone and cancels out any redness without feeling heavy at all. I wear the shade Warm Beige (MAC NC30). Full review soon.
Light it Up Up UpIn a moment of weakness, I picked up another Ambient Lighting Powder – Mood Light. I initially wanted Diffused Light, but the makeup store I bought it from had one last piece of Mood Light remaining and the owner told me it’s top makeup artists’ alleged favorite. Easily swayed low-EQ person that I am, I went for it. Mood Light is described as a “soft, sheer lavender pink that mimics the softest, most forgiving light and brightens the complexion”. More concretely, it visibly blurs the slightest blemishes and pores still peeking through after foundation.
It’s a pinky lavender so when applied heavily (which I did the first time cos I feared I wouldn’t see anything), I found it darkens my foundation! However, applied properly, it leaves a flawless, seamless finish without any detectable sheen but with a particular glow. It’s so weird, you guys. I’ll write a full and proper review soon when I’ve used this more and have figured out the best application technique.
