Avon Makeup Council ChallengeAs part of the Avon Makeup Council, we receive an awesome box of goodies every month to play with and experiment. A few members thought that it would be great to showcase our own look interpretations on some of the items and post them on our blogs. In that way, you’d be able to see the same product worn in different ways and different styles. For last November’s box, we received three palettes in The Blues, The Greens and The Metallics. I’ll be sharing all the Avon goodies in a separate post because this particular entry is for The Greens palette. Do I hear bells ringing, sirens blaring and trumpets a-tooting? Me wearing color eye makeup!? Bahaha. I almost wasn’t up for the challenge to be honest, till I remembered I wanted to rock red eyeshadow a-la-Catching Fire sometime in this lifetime. So maybe if I take on this green look, I’d slowly build up the confidence to channel my inner-Katniss soon.
“Green is good, green is not the enemy. Color is fun.”
Avon 8-in-1 eyeshadow paletteI have come across the Avon quads before and while I do think they’re good quality for their price, some of them take quite a bit of work. These 8-in-1 eyeshadow palettes are definitely a step up in terms of quality from the quads I’ve tried. Not only do you have more choices in one go, you also have better pigmented shades with more workable texture. They’re smoother, yet still quite dry and powdery but unlike the quads, these shadows are easier to blend. Some shades are quite chalky, but still work with a good primer.
THE LOOKI used a total of four shades from the palette – a gradation from grey to forest green with a hint of turquoise close to the upper lashline. I admit, this look is very unlike me but I didn’t hate it as much as I expected I would. I really think this makeup play session has nudged me to try non-neutral shades more. What I also learned from this experiment is that with Avon palettes around this price point (Php349 / $8.50), I can now afford to experiment with more out-there colors. I think my lack of non-neutrals is because I couldn’t ever get myself to spend so much $$$ on them, knowing they won’t get a lot of use. So if you’re also keen on trying on red, yellow, green – colorful eyeshadows but wouldn’t dare spend $$$ on them, drugstore shadows will be your best friend.
So… your thoughts on my look will be much appreciated! But please be nice 😉 haha Also, I’ll update this post with the other Council ladies’ links once everyone uploads theirs.
