Online Shopping is the Devil
Online Shopping 1 – Shari 0. I’ve been ‘controlling’ my makeup sprees lately by limiting myself to one purchase a month vs. a full-on makeup ban which seems quite undoable for now. Makeup and skincare are part of my mommy me-time, which I believe is important for full-time moms (the me-time, not the makeup!).
I’m still getting a kick out of GCASH-Amex Virtual Pay. My last purchases were from Nordstrom and Sephora. I don’t know what came over me this time but I swiftly decided to leap on over to Neiman Marcus to gloss over their Tom Ford collection. Right. Gloss over. Sure. We all know what happens next. For that, I’ll refer you back to the first statement of this entry.
I don’t know how I feel about the packaging, though. I’m over the moon that my purchases have all arrived in pristine conditions. Nary a chip or a smudge on the box or the inside of the items. But a smaller box with generous layers of bubble wrap, instead of smushed up paper, could work too noh?
Especially since the My Shopping Box shipping fee is calculated per pound so instead of paying for just one lb., I usually get charged for 2lbs thanks to these huge boxes and bountiful papers! Anyway, I’ll keep you hanging for a few seconds what Tom Ford item seduced the worst of my vulnerable self. Jump jump jump if you want to find out.
Pinch Me, I Must Be Dreaming.. Everything’s Hazy
I picked out Orchid Haze, an eyeshadow quad from the Fall collection which will delightfully be joining the permanent collection. Tom Ford is known for the grown up glitters in his quads which to be honest, sounds kinda iffy to me.
Glitter is glitter and no matter what, they’ll shimmer like the glitzy Christmas balls during December. So imagine my delight when I saw a palette from the Fall collection that didn’t have one speck of glitter in it.
Ladies, Orchid Haze will be my make-or-break entry into the lavish and luxurious world of Tom Ford. I don’t want to be displeased and let down with the many raves online but wait, do you hear that? My bank account deep in to praying the novena right now.
GCASH-AMex Virtual Pay, you little enabler!
Again, aside from the packaging issue, I’m still as pleased as punch with Globe’s GCASH Amex Virtual Pay service. Everything is just too easy nowadays! Never did I imagine owning a Tom Ford quad because I just won’t shell out Php4,800 ($112) for it (price of a makeup store I know carries Tom Ford).
Total time it took to arrive at my doorstep from the day of purchase is 13 days. No shocking customs fees (which I experienced recently upon receiving an item shipped through FedEx!), no long waits, nothing. This kind of innovation and hassle-free service deserves commendation, so here it is — snaps to you, Globe!
Because of this, I don’t even buy makeup locally anymore because of the high mark-ups with all the taxes, etc. Ever heard of the showrooming phenomenon? That is definitely at play here. And why not? Who wants to pay for more when you can get it for less somewhere else, right? Only con is probably that you’d have to be patient and wait for two weeks till you get your items. Otherwise, I couldn’t recommend this more.
