What’s on my Face Today : No-Makeup Makeup

I’m a fan of no-makeup makeup looks. In fact, it’s quite an irony that I’m so attracted to makeup when most of the time, I choose to look un-made up. That also explains my lack of colorful and/or more out-there cosmetic choices because I simply don’t see myself rocking yellow eyeshadow or black lipstick. I’m no makeup artist who can transform myself and be able to pull off such looks (Promise Phan, I’m talking boutchu girl). Anyway, for this look, keep reading to see the products I used.. Call me safe or boring, but hey that’s me — I much prefer just concealing the problem areas, accentuating the assets and just letting my real, natural skin shine through. Which is why my favorite makeup artist has to be Lisa Eldridge because her technique is exactly that. When I have a ‘good skin day‘, I choose to skip foundation altogether. This was one of those days so I didn’t use any. Otherwise, I usually reach for my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer and MAC Studio Finish concealer. I’ve yet to find a replacement for my MAC concealer because it’s so pigmented that it hides my darkest circles and biggest zits, but the problem is it creases on me. I then use NARS Laguna to lightly bronze and give my skin dimension applying on the sides of my forehead, cheekbones and jaw area. I also lightly define my brows using MAC Fluidline Gel Creme in Dirty Blonde. For the cheeks, I go for a creme blush instead of a powder blush so the finish is more dewy and natural-looking or more skin-like. For this look, I use Chanel Affinite, a bright pink from the Chanel Fall 2013 collection. On the lips, I either go with Chanel La Raffinee or lightly Chanel Exaltee (lightly dabbed instead of swiped because it is quite intense). I curl my lashes with my Koji eyelash curler, a new favorite but too soon to tell if it has replaced Shu Uemura in my heart. And to finish up, I dust Guerlain Meteorites in Teint Rose all over my face. That’s it. How about you — what are your no-makeup makeup look must-haves? Do you usually go for this kind of look or you prefer a semi or full-faced makeup?

Guerlain Meteorites! I saw one from Liz and it looks nice on the face. Do you have a review about it too? I also prefer no makeup, makeup or something that looks natural unless it’s required for me to wear full makeup. You’re pretty either way 🙂

I prefer semi makeup because my face has a lot of pigmentation and I’m always trying to hide it.

The more I see the real techniques brushes on your blog my lust for them grows stronger. Saw that humongous powder brush at makeuppro (IG: mupstore), and I regret that I didn’t buy it. Is php 700 a good deal?

Hi Shari! I’m torn between Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer and MAC Studio Moisture tint. Have you tried them all? Which one would you recommend? I’m really wary of buying foundation because pang-school lang naman. Thanks in advance! 🙂

Hi Hannah! I’ve only tried NARS Pure Radiant and Laura Mercier. I prefer Laura’s because it feels lighter on than the NARS one. If you need a bit more coverage though, I would go for NARS because it has slightly more coverage than Laura’s. The Laura TM coverage is super sheer, minor redness still peeking through but the finish is very natural and skin-like. NARS gives off a glow that Laura’s doesn’t. However, I’ve read that some bloggers broke out with the NARS one. So I suggest ask for samples from NARS and Laura if you can and try first. If you have relatively good skin, I’d recommend the Laura Mercier one though.

For work, I often… No, I ALWAYS pala, sport a no makeup look. More on concealing the imperfections my favorite NYC blush and a pink, or if I wanted to look more natural, a nude lipstick. 🙂

Is that a RT Buffing brush? Hindi ba heavy yung coverage since dense siya? And the Koji curler, parang mas bended si Shu sa kanya. Hmm. intrigued. I’ve had my Shu for almost 5 years haha!

Yup RT Buffing Brush! Nope, not so heavy because I only put a tiny amount which the brush blends out well throughout my face. 🙂

After using Koji since I got it, I much prefer SHU’s na uli. The black padding in Koji’s curler keeps falling out 🙁 Plus it pinches my eyelids pa, huhu. Back to shu I go!
