What kept me busy the past month was the planning and organizing of Selene’s baptism which we celebrated last July 13. It wasn’t so much trouble to plan, to be honest. Church, reception area, caterer, lights and sounds — relatively easy to book and coordinate with. The challenging part was the decoration and styling of the reception which I ambitiously wanted to do myself. Here are a few photos…
We baked the cupcakes for the event, too — vanilla with buttercream frosting. First time to bake, turned out pretty good naman. I THINK!
The color scheme was pastel (baby pink, mint blue and light yellow) with a tiffany blue accent. The cupcake table above included cutout letters forming Selene embellished with a few lamps and bottles. I wanted to go for a candy buffet to go with the cupcakes but lacked time in preparing it. Guess I’ll save it for her 1st birthday party! (The mini cupcakes aren’t in the photo because they’ve been distributed to each table already)
These frames with Selene’s photos served as the centerpieces of the guest tables. I wanted to create a DIY centerpiece but again lacked time for that. Thankfully, I found these photo frames at the last minute which was the night before the event.
I feel that I could have done a better job had I prepared more in advance. Also, I lack the talent of envisioning a physical image in my mind — which is very much necessary in a decorating and styling job. I’m the kind of person who needs to physically see something (thank God for pinterest and pegs!) to be able to judge what the image lacks or otherwise. I bought materials I couldn’t envision coming together until I finally saw them in the mock set-up.
