Chanel Creme Blush First Look
These just in — Chanel Creme Blushes in Revelation and Affinite! I’m so excited, I can’t contain it. I find it very timely that I got hold of these newly released Chanel creme blushes after I bought my Joues Contraste in Rose Tourbillon. I was on the hunt for next shades to purchase but was disappointed at how less pigmented and quite shimmery the baked Euro-Asian formulas are compared to their US counterparts. Because of that, my Joues Contraste lemmings dissipated and I got sucked into the Rouge Allure/Coco lipsticks instead (but that’s another story to tell…
And then there were these… Oh my gosh, these are the closest thing to creme blush heaven, I tell you. I’m not a fan of cream blushes at all, the ones I’ve purchased before had already been tossed out due to unsanitary issues. I hated applying those things on my cheeks, next to tints, that both seem to dry out so quickly you look like God-knows-what with those cherry tomato blobs on your face.
Creme of the Creme Blush Crop
Enter Le Blush Creme de Chanel — a velvety, bordering powdery cream blush that’s quite pigmented but really so heavenly to blend. They don’t dry down quickly unlike other cream blushes that need crazy blending right away or else you know what you’re left with. They aren’t stick nor oily either. I’ve never encountered a cream blush as dreamy as this (maybe I had bad choices then but I’ve tried a few and nothing compares). I use my fingers in applying these and I actually enjoy it.
Cream blushes usually don’t last long on me, having combination skin and living in a tropical country where heat is inevitable despite air-conditioning. It lasted a good 7-8 hours on me. I tried rubbing it off after it set and it didn’t budge. Again, I’m impressed.
Affinite is an intense, blue pink while Revelation is a soft, shimmering pink. I didn’t think Affinite could suit me, until I continued blending and sheered it out to a beautiful light pink (although below I didn’t do the blending so you could see the color difference). Revelation has got to be my pick between the two, having a slight tinge of peach to it and not as intense as Affinite. It gives off a healthy natural-looking flush that doesn’t scream blush!!!
Swatched twice for color to really show. First swatch is already quite pigmented, though.
(I apologize for the undone face swatches below. I didn’t do my whole face which explains my unconcealed blemishes, etc etc. I’ve broken out badly from too much exfoliation (I suspect!) almost a month ago and am still dealing with post-pimple marks. Skincare post on battling breaking out soon!)
On the left is Affinite, on the right is Revelation. Swatched heavily so you can see the color difference and although they may look the same, you’ll see Revelation is much softer and less intense than Affinite that my skin underneath is showing (particularly glowing but it’s probably only the lighting, I didn’t put on highlighter for this). I also swept on powder foundation before application to ‘prep’ my skin for the cream blush but you can see the finish is slightly dewy on me.
As I said, I used my fingers for application and it’s actually fun to work with. I found myself smiling while dabbing and blending it on because of the texture. What can I say, products like these that aren’t so high-maintenance and are very easy to use excite me.
Pros 1. Superb formula — velvety smooth almost-powdery texture, no greasy/oily feel 2. Lightweight and long-lasting — does not slide off easily nor fade during the day 3. Easy to blend and work with — no rapid drying time that needs heavy blending
Cons 1. Only comes in 6 colors and most are in shades of pink, hopefully they come out with more varied shades in the future
I’ve been using Revelation almost every day since I got these and I think I could even hit pan in the next months or so *GASP*. If i run out, I will repurchase Revelation, definitely! Such a light, easy shade to use. I’m eyeing on other shades too, like Presage, which is apricot. On the other hand, I won’t be repurchasing Affinite.
Price & Availability
Price is $38 so it will probably around the Php2,000 mark making it cheaper than the Joues Contraste blushes.
