Not-so-Shy Shy GirlJust another lipstick I got from my MAC Lipstick Madness stage when I was pregnant. I took a break from posting these babies but now they’re making a comeback! I promised myself I would stop purchasing lipsticks until I finish up at least three tubes I currently have now. That may take a while so to speed things up, excuse me while I make myself up with Velvet Teddy as my foundation, Honeylove for concealing my undereyes, a little bit of Freckletone for my eyes and a dab of Impassioned on my cheeks. On a more serious (because when I mean lipstick, I mean business) note, this particular shade Shy Girl, was brought to my attention because it’s been advertised as a Miley Cyrus favorite. Now, don’t mistake me for a Miley fan right away but for some reason, I hear celebrities using MAC, I’m even more drawn to the brand. Shy Girl is a neutral coral-beige that makes it a new recruit in my two-man army of nude soldiers (Velvet Teddy and Freckletone). I think the shade is similar to Velvet Teddy in the tube, as Freckletone definitely looks more peachy than nude.
FINISHThe Cremesheen finish isn’t particularly on the top of my favorite finishes as it can accentuate the lines on my lips and make it drier (case in point Creme Cup) but Shy Girl seems to be an exception. It still accentuates some lip lines but doesn’t seem to dry my lips out as much as Creme Cup does. As compared to Velvet Teddy which is more of a nude beige and Freckletone which is a nude peach, Shy Girl leans more on the nude coral spectrum. Velvet is a matte finish and Freckleone a Lustre so in order of opaqueness from most opaque to least, it’s Velvet Teddy – Shy Girl – Freckletone.
LONGEVITYLongevity for cremesheen finishes usually last at most 3 hours on me. If I eat in between, I usually have to reapply after eating. Shy Girl seems to have a longer wear than usual lasting an hour more after a meal.
FINAL THOUGHTSOverall, I absolutely love wearing Shy Girl compared to Velvet Teddy because it looks better suited to my skin tone. Also, since I’m currently in love with them coral and tangerine blushes like NARS Gina and MAC Stereo Rose, Shy Girl complements them really well. Newsflash! I’m beginning to be weaned off my MAC lipstick obsession. My last purchase was a MAC Archie Collection lippie in Betty Bright and I think that’s about it for now. As much as I want to explore the world of high-end lipsticks such as Tom Ford, Chanel and YSL, I’m focusing on using up what I have and diverting my attention to SKIN CARE. I’ll be sharing my finds soon! Still road-testing them as of writing. What is YOUR go-to NUDE lipstick? I’d be curious to hear great nudes from Chanel, YSL etc.
