When I say HG, which I usually don’t, I mean I could live with this one product and not look, try or buy anything like it ever again. So believe me when I say I adore this lipstick. It’s a deep scarlet retro red that reminds me of bombshells from the 50s. This is actually my second tube (lost my first tube during one night out before) which the hubs got for me while we were on one of our “mall tours/exercises” while I was pregnant. Before proclaiming it my HG, I tried on Russian Red and Ruby Woo, the top two reds of MAC, but le hubs chose this as the most perfect red on me. Not too bright, not too loud, classic and in his words, “elegant”. Not that the other two reds aren’t, but it’s because this particular red suited my skintone and lips perfectly. The only downside is that it is matte and can be really drying after a few hours but compared to Ruby Woo’s dryness, it performs a whole lot better (I tried on Ruby Woo and after half an hour, I could feel my lips’ moisture sucked out completely!). I guess its HG-ness can be ousted when I find the exact same shade in a not so drying formulation. It doesn’t necessarily have to be moisturizing, though. Been browsing through Chanel, YSL and Guerlain lipsticks but am overwhelmed by all the red shades. Any tips, friends?
