Hold on… not
lipstick? For realz? Haha. Yes, I usually lean towards the pinker or nuder side of lips. This time though, I wanted to veer away from that and dive into the darker side of berry
. MAC Rebel
is the very berry
of them all but seeing as I’m done with the everyday party rock mode and won’t have regular nightouts anymore, I’ shying away from those types of colors.
, according to MAC, is a a burst of plum
. I have quite pigmented lips so this registers darker on me but my secret in using this is to blot it with tissue so I end up with the color above — a sorta deep pink and a bit muted plum. When I don’t blot it down, it appears much darker and plummier. I still like it but more for a dinner date or a night event. Its texture is very creamy being of Amplified finish, one of my favorite MAC finishes. Also, for some reason, the amplified finish is less drying compared to Cremesheen (the creamier finish). It’s not cool-toned so on my yellow undertones, this works perfectly in brightening up my face. It’s soft enough to wear with neutral shadows without looking too overdone and screaming ‘let’s partay!’.
For those wanting to take a plunge into the reds and the deep berries but want to test the waters first, I suggest you pick up Craving first and go from there. I personally love Plumful
, my pink-plum favorite (which reminds me, I don’t have a review for that yet!) but this comes close. I have yet to wear it out more often to see if it’ll reach the love
level I have for my pinks. My next lipstick entry will be about my one and only HG
red (as of the moment).
