I’m a layout / design whore, I know. Barely three months since I revamped my blog and I have yet changed its look again — I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
Anyway, I’ve been keeping a list of MAC lipsticks
that I want to purchase next (who doesn’t!?). Looking back, however, my love for MAC lipsticks started late. Having dry puckers and being averse to wearing any kind of product on them, even balms — my lips were definitely not lipstick-friendly.
It was only during this pregnancy that my sudden interest in the product peaked. My husband and family would call it my food craving
(paglilihi in Filipino)
. Instead of experiencing sudden cravings for food,
I would get the feeling of wanting to buy lipstick. Hence, an early indication that The Misty Spawn is a baby girl.
So for the entire span of my pregnancy, dropping by MAC
was a habit my husband learned to master whenever we’d go to malls where MAC was present. Each time we entered, I’d always try a shade that’s on my list and see if it suits me or not. Most of the time, I’d end up in distaste because of my dry lips and how the application just looks terrible on me.
It was then I realized not a lot of beautifully swatched shades I see online and on others would particularly suit me as well (even if we had similar skintones). That’s why when I try on a certain shade that I believe works for me, I would lose sleep thinking about it. It’s that

shade that I lost sleep over because it was always sold out
in MAC counters here in Manila —MEHR
is described as a dirty, blue pink
and is more cool-toned than warm. Surprising how this shade worked on me because I usually can not wear cool-toned colors. I love how it’s an everyday color that can work on many skintones, as evidenced by how it’s always sold out.
I would wear it without anything on my face and I look quite polished. It also works great with smokey eyes or a strong blush. It is of Matte formulation, one of my favorites from MAC’s line (my next favorites are Amplified and Cremesheen). But unlike most mattes, it surprisingly goes on creamy and smooth as compared to let’s say, Ruby Woo, which can be very tricky to apply. Mehr however glides on smoothly to the lips (even without lip balm on) but could accentuate lip lines if you use too much of it. What I do though is scrub and exfoliate my lips first, put on lip balm and layer on Mehr after.
It stays on my lips for 5 hours max with eating and drinking in between. I love wearing it because despite not touching up, it stays put and doesn’t flake, budge nor dry my lips out. I can totally go on and on about this lipstick more but bottom line is I love it!
Already thinking of repurchasing just so I have backup.
Wearing Mac Mehr
Sort of creamy application despite being of matte formulation, but dries to a matte finish after it sets
Long-lasting enough as compared to other lipsticks, 5 hours wear with eating & drinking but stains a bit
Suits most skintones, especially light – medium
Everyday shade! If you’re gonna spend on lipstick, might as well get the one you can abuse on a daily basis right?
Could be a MLBB shade for some! For my NC30-35 skin, it’s the perfect rosy pink.
Need to exfoliate and moisturize first for those with dry, flaky lips
Could accentuate lip lines if used generously so you have to find the right amount to get the best wear
Hard to get a hold of here in Manila! I ordered mine online as I can’t wait longer only to find out when I go back to MAC that it’s sold out again
REPURCHASE… and hoard (kidding)!
Like I said, it’s hard for me to find a shade that looks good with my skintone so finding this definitely makes me happy. I like that despite being matte, it could be a double agent working as Amplified Cremesheen. And that it doesn’t dry my lips more than it already is — definitely a keeper!
