November Belle de Jour Box

Nothing like good ol’ snail mail to perk me up in this majorly digital world we live in today. What’s even better is receiving a box filled with beauty goodies each month without knowing what you’ll be getting next. This is my second BDJ box and if you can recall, I was quite impressed with the first one.  This month, it’s packed with 11 samples and 4 vouchers / gift cards. Read on after the jump to see what I think of this month’s stash of goodies.

First of all, again, I was surprised at how heavy the box was. You can feel how fully loaded it is just by the weight. Upon opening, there was a sweet scent emanating from the box as if I’ve entered a Bath and Body works store.
What’s inside the beauty box:

Nippon Cleansing Sponge (10 piece pack) — I haven’t tried this yet as of the moment. It’s a makeup cleansing technique using the sponge to wipe away the gunk just by adding water. It also claims to remove dead skin as well.

Physiogel Hypoallergenic Intensive Cream —An intensive moisturizer for the driest, itchiest parts of your skin. Used this on the dry areas of my feet and the next day, they were indeed softer. It has no scent and claims to lock in moisture for three days (even with handwashing!)

Garnier Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream —Claims to peel off uneven skin overnight evening out dark spots. Haven’t had the chance to use this yet as I’ve steered clear from peeling creams while pregnant.

Shiseido Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam (2 vials)  I’ve tried this for four days already and only finished half of the 10ml vial. It indeed feels like a luxurious lather leaving my skin squeaky clean and redness-free. I’m seriously thinking of purchasing the whole bottle.

Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Resist Day Cream (1 vial) — I used it twice already and both times, it gave me an oily feeling throughout the day.
L’Occitane Extra Gentle Milk Soap —My favorite of this box! I’ve recently purchased the L’Occitane Shea Hand Cream and fell in love with it, leaving my Tony Moly Age Stop hand cream untouched ever since I got my hands on L’occitane. I’ll post a review on that soon! Anyway, this soap smells really good and leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean yet very soft, smooth and moisturized. I’m thinking of possibly getting the full 250g bar.

Yuka Non-Acetone Wipes — First time to try a product such as this and I have a 50/50 feeling regarding it. I like the non-acetone part, but I take up about 5 sheets per hand to completely clean my nails of polish.

Dentiste Plus White Vitamin C & Xylitol  — Toothpaste with vitamin C. Have yet to try it.

Calvin Klein Beauty Perfume —Just one perfume sample! Perfect! Although I don’t like the smell of this one — I prefer the aqua scent in the first box more.

Extras
L’Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic Multi-Action 8 Cleanser — Yay! A small treat for the husband. Although it is a mouthful to say, it is packed with Vitamin C and Magnesium to boost hydration and beat fatigue.

Garnier Light Complete Whitening Cream — Can be used as a makeup base or face powder as it claims to give a mattifying finish.

Vouchers
Ministry of Strip Upper Lip Wax — I’ve always wanted to try Ministry of Strip so I’m extremely thrilled with this voucher.
L’Occitane 10% Off Voucher — So thrilled for this too as I’m planning on purchasing the Almond Oil Body Wash.
L’Oreal Professional INOA Hair Color & Xtenso treatment — Redeemable at Azta Urban Salon
Shiseido Free Product Sample, Quick Facial, 15% discount — All redeemable with a minimum amount of purchase.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
1. No makeup products AT ALL! I’m becoming a bit frustrated with BDJ Box not including any cosmetics as it is the reason I signed up for it in the first place. Why oh why! So many cosmetic brands to partner with, locally or internationally, popular or up-and-coming. What’s the hold-up?

2. BUT, I can’t really complain as I’ve been developing a penchant for trying out skin care products recently and the skin care items they’ve been including have compensated for their lack of beauty ones. I especially loved the L’Occitane soap, the Shiseido cleanser and the Physiogel moisturizer

3. Yes, you’re doing it right by not inlcuding so many perfume samples! Please continue doing it! One is enough.

Can’t wait for the next one! Ciao bellas!

Yes we do have beauty boxes here in the Philippines – Saladbox, BDJ Box and Glamourbox. This one is P480/month. If you have extra income lang, this is worth a try. But if not naman, pwede mo isave nalang your 480/month and buy better products you choose pa with it.

Overall, the products looks ok although more on skincare products lang cya. I really would prefer makeup products kasi I have my own skincare products na I don’t want to risk my skin on breaking out again :\ I hope they really include MORE makeups in the coming months! Thanks for sharing ^_~

    • December 11, 2012 / 5:34 am

Yah! Im hesitant rin with skin products kasi baka mag-break out ako or something. I really do hope they have makeup soon!

Love you blog! What kind of camera do you use?

  10. December 11, 2012 / 3:47 am

Wow, that box was jam-packed! I think I’d prefer more makeup products as well but I still love free skin care products!

I love skin care products more but I carefully choose which one to use since I spend a lot of time under the sun.

  12. December 11, 2012 / 7:10 am

It looks like you got your money’s worth naman. Parang glamourbox yung nakita ko na madaming makeup products. Pero it’s the most expensive of the bunch.

    • December 12, 2012 / 9:13 am

Yes yes, it’s worth the 480 but it still depends on one’s preferences. If you’re not keen on skincare products, then you’d be disappointed and feel na your 480 wasnt worth spending. 🙂

  13. December 11, 2012 / 12:05 pm

Keep posting about these boxes! I want to find the right products for me and your honest reviews really help. 🙂

My mom uses Physiogel, and I’ve tried the wash too; left my face supple. 🙂 And I didn’t know the Garnier cream can be used as a base. I thought it was more of a night product or something you use when you’re not gonna put on makeup. Anyway, I like the contents of the box, even if they didn’t have any makeup stuff. 🙂 What type of subscription did you get?

Yeah, the Garnier Light Whitening Cream can be used as a base or even as a powder foundation (with minimal coverage) – or so they claim! 🙂

Thank you for your precious comment on my blog yesterday. Your town in france sounds amazingggggg!! I would love to live there, even if for a day. 🙂 This box looks awesome by the way. But I feel your pain – no beauty products? That’s the most fun part!

  16. December 11, 2012 / 5:06 pm

I’ve been tempted to sign up for this too just so I can have something to look forward to in the mail every month haha! The set looks great 🙂

  17. December 11, 2012 / 6:50 pm

I think I need to invest in one of these, it looks amazing. And you’re right, snail mail is the best mail! I’m currently trying to get post cards from every country in the world from pen pals!
    Enjoyed reading your blog!
